IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE BELFAST FARMERS' MARKET - PLEASE READ

COVID-19 and Vendor Pre-Ordering at the Belfast Farmers' Market

Support the local farmers and food businesses of the Belfast Farmers’ Market while sheltering-in-place. Farmers markets remain open as an essential service in Maine, but as we’re advised to stay home and practice social distancing,  many of our vendors are also prepared to make delicious, local food also available for pickup or delivery via pre-order. Checkout the Belfast Farmers' Market website for up to date information regarding each vendors pre-ordering options.

SNAP / EBT INFORMATION

The Belfast Farmers Market is COMMITTED to providing full access to SNAP/EBT shoppers, and our Info Tent continues to process EBT payments for our Farmers using the existing clipboard system.

In order to continue to provide EBT processing during the COVID-19 pandemic we have had to suspend access to clipboards for Credit/Debit cards such as VISA, AMEX, MasterCard, and Discover. We hope to be able to return to processing all these forms of payment in the future. In the meantime many vendors have their own Credit/Debit swipe systems, and/or have enabled pre-order credit/debit card purchasing through their Web Shops. Otherwise cash and checks can still be used for non-pre-order items.

MAINE HARVEST BUCKS

The Belfast Farmers Market continues to accept and distribute Harvest Bucks to EBT/SNAP users!

You can DOUBLE YOUR SHOPPING DOLLARS
when you use your EBT card at the Belfast Farmers Market.

This Week at the Market....

DICKEY HILL FARM

This week in addition to trellising tomato and cucumber plants, managing irrigation through this very dry spell, and seeding fall carrots, we are in PEAK SUGAR SNAP PEA harvest mode over here- collectively spending about 12 or so hours harvesting peas!  😬

This week in our online store, in addition to our sugar snap peas you should also find: the first shishito peppers and garlic scapes of the season, gherkin cucumbers, beets, carrots, zucchini, spinach, lettuce mix, swiss chard and pea shoots as well as grass fed beef.  www.dickeyhillfarm.com/online-store

Our online store is open Wednesday at 6pm- Thursday at 2pm for pre-orders to be picked up at market.  While we encourage customers to pre-order to help minimize the morning rush (AND for the best selection!) at this point in the season, we should always have some produce available for purchase at market.

Paying with SNAP/EBT, Maine Harvest Bucks or WIC?  Place your order with EBT for the discount code and pay at market.

APPLETON CREAMERY

IOnline preorder for farmers’ markets opens every Sunday and closes Wednesday night to give me a chance to pack it all on Thursday. Grab and go at market!
You can preorder most of your favorites to be sure that you get them. This week, we have a couple of specials, only available by preorder! So check it out.

In a year that has been challenging enough, we’ve been waiting for the next big repair bill. This week, one of our walkins went down, after 16 years of faithful service. At this writing, we are still waiting for the repairman. Luckily, we were able to evacuate most of the cheese to our second walkin, where we store the packaged cheeses for sale and delivery.  Sadly, we lost a couple of batches of aging cheeses, and others are in short supply. Just another reason to preorder, to ensure you get what you want.

Thank you for your continued support at farmers’ markets, and remember that you can also send mail order to distant friends who may be missing Maine and our products this season.

TODDY POND FARM...PART 2

Grill & Chill  or whatever we end up calling this new Friday dinner series preparations are well underway.

With new COVID-19 seating and spacing requirements we've begun the process of building 20 tables for two to add to our current fleet of larger tables. Luckily we've got our son Oliver to help. You might see him working our market booth this summer as well.

We are excited to open up the farm again to our Friday night guests, and based on the emails and calls we've been receiving for the past couple of months, many folks are just as excited.

We hope that the evenings we have planned will be fun and relaxing for everyone, despite all the turmoil in the world. We believe if everyone who comes to dinners can be patient, understanding and kind, then it will be fun for everyone. These are uncharted waters, and we are striving to do our very best for our community and ourselves. Reservations will be extremely limited and the menu and dinner ordering process will be different from last year. These are all changes we've had to make in order to follow state guidelines. Some folks may not like the new format, heck I'm not a fan of it to be honest, but it is what it is.

Reservations will open 6/29 - see our website and join our newsletter for all the details.
