The Belfast Farmers’ Market is monitoring the development of COVID-19. As of today the Maine CDC recommends postponing indoor gatherings of 250 people or more. The market falls BELOW this threshold and will be open tomorrow (Friday) as usual from 9-1.
Please know that the Belfast Farmers’ Market is committed to doing what we can to keep customers and vendors safe and healthy. We are also committed to continuing to provide local, healthy food to our community and maintaining the economic viability of farmers and food producers.
We are asking vendors and customers alike to be extra considerate of the following general best health practices:
- practice good hand washing with soap and water for 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable
- if you are not feeling well or think you may be sick please ask a friend or family member to do your shopping for you
- consider reaching out to friends, neighbors or family members who may be immunocompromised and offer to do their shopping for them
- as always it is good practice to wash all produce prior to eating it
The Belfast Farmers’ Market values the opportunity to provide nutritious, healthy, locally grown and produced food to our community. We believe that local food is safe food as it has passed through far fewer hands and facilities to get from our fields to your plates! And also, the market will continue to monitor CDC recommendations and respond accordingly.
