HAPPY 4TH OF JULY
FROM ALL OF US AT THE
BELFAST FARMERS' MARKET!!

This Week at the Market....

ENERGY GEMS

Energy Gems invites you to stop by to taste a sample and have a conversation about the benefits of eating sprouted seeds!

Local vidoegrapher Jeremy Grant of The Timber Cross, in collaboration with the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce, put together a short video highlighting a few of the farms in Waldo County, ME. It's definitely worth watching!!
APPLETON CREAMERY

Can’t you just smell the fresh lavender on these beautiful Sunburst aged goat cheeses? Headed to market this week!

We all know it has been a cold and wet spring, so it should be no surprise to anyone that there isn’t any basil yet to make our most anticipated summer cheese, our basil chevre. Luckily for everyone, last season was so abundant that we were able to freeze a lot of our basil base! This Friday, we will have limited quantities available. Shop early!

TODDY POND FARM

Happy 4th of July!!

For market this week we will be bringing yogurt, kefir, cheese,  eggs, pork, beef and ice cream sandwiches - this week fresh picked mint ice cream on salted chocolate chip cookies!

On Friday afternoons (by 5pm) we will have fresh baked sourdough bread and raw milk available in our farm store.

Our second Grill & Chill dinner was even bigger than the first - we had over 100 people come out to the farm for dinner, drinks and live music. The Rusty Hinges were great!

This week's musical guest - Hop in the Hat

If you're thinking of coming to dinner, please RSVP by Friday morning. Folks are also welcome to just come listen to the music - $5 cover + $5 minimum donation to the band.

Hope to see you out at the farm on Fridays throughout the summer - more details at www.toddypondfarm.com/grillandchill

ME WATER BUFFALO CO.

ME Water Buffalo Co. will have fresh buffalo mozzarella, burrata, bocconcini, yogurt & gelato this week. Our whey fed pork will also be coming to market. As it gets warmer here in Maine, it's important to stay hydrated...We will have our farm logo water bottles available this week for $3 each or 2/$5. And don't forget, we do a pasture Wallow Wagon Ride to see the water buffalo up close every Saturday at 12 noon at our farm.

Belfast Farmers' Market Needs Your Help!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Do you have 2 hours available on an occasional Friday morning?
Do you want to support the markets' efforts to provide low-income shoppers with access to local food? Perhaps you appreciate the convenience of having the option to use your credit card at market? Maybe you just enjoy and value the Belfast Farmers' Market community and would be willing to give us an extra hand.  We are looking for a few additional volunteers to staff the market info booth this summer. Currently, we have a fabulous group of volunteers who tirelessly show up every Friday morning and work 2-4 hour shifts at the info booth, but we need more help for the bustling summer months. Volunteer duties include: welcoming shoppers, providing EBT/SNAP and credit card customers with clipboards for shopping, adding up shopping sheets, swiping customer cards on the markets' wireless machine, distributing Maine Harvest Bucks and answering general questions about the market.
No experience necessary, just a friendly and positive attitude.
Contact Marcia at Peacemeal Farm (peacemealfarm@gmail.com) for more details.
MAINE HARVEST BUCKS UPDATE
We just received an update from the Maine Federation of Farmers' Markets, the organization that manages the Maine Harvest Bucks program.
Now that the funding from the USDA FINI grant has been confirmed for the next three years, we will be handing out new vouchers.
We will also be able to accept vouchers with the 3/31/2019 expiration date
anytime through 2021!
