This Week at the Market....

MEADOWSWEET FARM

As a winter-only vendor, Meadowsweet Farm will be at our last market of the year this week.

Come out and stock up on beef! We'll be bringing extra of all the favorite cuts to be sure there's enough to go around. And if you need beef from us during the summer, we do also sell on the farm, 15 minutes outside of Belfast. Ask us about on-farm discount pricing. To contact us outside of Market, call 338-4840 or email eliotvanpeski@gmail.com. See you all on Friday!

APPLETON CREAMERY

At Appleton Creamery we are busy getting ready for our fourth annual Kid Hugging Day! Come on out to the farm on Sunday, April 28, 11-4, and meet the kids. Sample and buy some of the season’s first goat cheeses. Grab a taco from the Yum Bus or an Ice Cream from Stone Fox Creamery! Then wander down the Midcoast Cheese Trail (midcoastcheesetrail.com) and visit some of the other farms hosting Kid/Calf/Lamb snuggling. Our friends at ME Water Buffalo Co will also be open so you can meet their newest calf, and get some fresh buffalo mozzarella.
This event is rain or shine, so wear your boots, but please leave the dog at home.

PEACEMEAL FARM

In addition to more delicious spinach and salad greens, we'll have dry beans at market this Friday.  It's a multistep process that we weren't able to start in the fall due to the early winter weather.

ENCHANTED KITCHEN AT FIREFLY FARM

YumBus will be at market rain or shine whipping up made to order crêpes!  We are excited to be back in the Bus!!  We have gluten free crêpes as well as gluten ones.  Our gluten free crêpe batter is made with Maine grown and ground organic buckwheat.  We will have our full line of bakery goodies and hummus also.  Our baked goods are made with Maine organic grains.
See you at Market!!

ENERGY GEMS

Come get a round of Energy Gems this Friday!
(I will be away from market on May 3rd.)

TODDY POND FARM
Lots of Cuteness @ Toddy Pond Farm these days!!
So far this calving season we've been four for four with heifers - this baby gang have quite a fun time hanging out with the mamas and playing together.
And yes that is a mountain of winter poop and bedding in the background - soon to be spread on new pastures (as soon as it stops raining for more than a couple of days!)

In other news, our salami making is coming along nicely after a period of trial and error (it's a learning process for sure) and the latest result pictured here pairs quite nicely with our cave aged alpine tomme. We'll plan to have both available when we return to the market.

DICKEY HILL FARM

Despite the cold dreary weather, we're thinking about summer here at Dickey Hill Farm. For the next two weeks we will be focused on transitioning our high tunnels from winter greens production to summer crops like peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and melons. Transitions between seasons can be a big job as we hand pull over 7000 plants, reshape beds, prepare trellising, and finally transplant seedlings. Fortunately, those first tomatoes of the season make it all worthwhile! This transition also means that our abundance of greens will last only a few more weeks so stock up while you still can! We plan to have plenty of spinach, kale, lettuce mix and more at this Friday's market. See you then.
