Green Arts & Entertainment District

Exciting News: The Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County has awarded a cultural grant to Joanne Miller to collaborate with GreenWheaton on a year long series of Wheaton Community Photography and Nature Programs.

About Joanne: Joanne Miller is a professional artist, award-winning photographer and educator with more than 20 years experience in the visual arts, TV and film industries, and arts education. “Living on the Edge” her long-term series of photographs, explores the connections that bind us to nature. As founding director of PhotoKids, Joanne also develops and teaches creative programs that integrate photography, art and key environmental issues for youth. Certified in STEAM and Arts-Integration, she is on the Artist and Humanities Council of Montgomery County’s Teaching Artist Roster.

About the Project: Please join artist Joanne Miller, GreenWheaton and community partners on a journey of exploration, creativity and fun as we photograph the nature in Wheaton. With the downtown urban Central Business District (CBD) as a backdrop, activities include artist walking tours, workshops and family friendly photography events, community exhibitions and contests. Share your photographs with the community and participate in our creative dialogue about finding beauty in our community backyard. Once each month Joanne will conduct a walking tour in Wheaton. Please check our website for updates.  In the event of rain, the date will be rescheduled. All events are free and open to the public.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 23, 2015 8:30AM – 10:30 AM  Meet at Veterans Park, 11200 Amherst Avenue.  Join artist Joanne Miller on a photographic journey through urban Wheaton. Bring your camera and walk along with Joanne as we photograph the nature in the downtown Central Business District (CBD).  The walk is an opportunity for photography and conversation about personal vision and creative practice.  Free and open to the public – all levels of photographers are welcome.
