GreenDrinks at Hollywood East Café
5:30 – 8pm
April is the month to celebrate trees and Arbor Day, so we’ve asked Evan Keto, Manager of the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection Trees Program, to join us for our monthly environmental happy hour to talk about the county's tree program, and to provide details for those who want to request FREE TREES for their yards. We'll also have some info on how to take care of the trees you already have. Come out to network: Food! Friends! Fun! And TREES!
Artist Walk in Wheaton
Join artist Joanne Miller on a photographic journey through urban Wheaton. Bring your camera and walk along with Joanne as we photograph the nature in the downtown Central Business District (CBD). The walk is an opportunity for photography and conversation about personal vision and creative practice. Free and open to the public – all levels of photographers are welcome. In the event of rain, artist walk will be rescheduled. Please visit the Wheaton Arts and Culture gallery of community photographs at www.joannemiller-community.com. Explore your path to a greener life at the GreenFest! This one-day festival, focused on the people and environment of Montgomery County, will take over 2 blocks of Takoma Park with music, films, speakers, exhibitors and workshops all focused on building community and improving our environment. There are still a few spaces left for exhibitors and vendors.
Volunteers are needed to staff the Green Wheaton booths; SSL hours are available for students. Click the logo below for more info.
Native Plant Garden to Be Moved
Many years ago, a dedicated group of volunteers installed a native plant garden around the "Welcome to Wheaton" sign in Reedie Triangle. Now, as the city prepares to re-invent the triangle area, volunteers are needed once again to help us move the garden to its new home. We'll be working on the big dig Saturday, April 23 from 2-6 pm. Students can get SSL hours for this project. Info@greenwheaton.org
