Lawn Tips:

(From A.I.R. Lawn Care)

Homemade Compost Tea:
Great for grasses and gardens.
Combine:  2 oz. Cane Sugar. 
1.5 lbs vermicastings (or other compost).
1 Tbsp white sugar or molasses.
1 oz. soluble kelp.

Leave in compost tea brewer approx. 24 hrs. Spray immediately.


DIY Weed Control:
1) Cut grass no shorter than 3"
2) Leave clippings in yard
3) Make homemade plant / weed killer

Mix 1 gallon white vinegar & 1 Tbsp organic liquid dishwashing soap.
Spray on plants you wish to kill.

Apply for a MD Green Registry Leadership Award. Application period April 15 to May 15, 2015. Gain recognition for your org's environmental commitment and results. Application form on the awards page.


Where's your MD Green Registry logo?  E-mail a photo and it'll be posted on the Look for the Logo page. Share the logo to draw visitors to your member profile, see your org's good work and the overall impact of Green Registry members.

The FTCs Green Guides are a resource for understanding environmental labeling and marketing claims for products. Educate yourself on environmental purchasing choices and ensure you're properly using terms and certifications.
 

Support renewable energy production through your purchasing power. This table lists green power retailers in MD as well as providers of renewable energy certificates.

New Spaces, New Faces

On March 26th, we were delighted to be hosted by Omar Lazo and Los Chorros restaurant.  The Wheaton-Kensington Chamber of Commerce was the special organization, with Vicky Surles sharing valuable information.  We saw a number of new faces and were honored to welcome Councilmember Roger Berliner.   You never know who will attend, so stay in touch with GreenWheaton!

Leadership Montgomery honors Student Service - Recognizing outstanding community service efforts and leadership skills among local high school students. Sponsored by Leadership Montgomery, the awards provide five $1,000 scholarships to current Mo. Co. 12th grade students. Nominations are due April 15. Request details and application via email.
