FEATURE SHOW
OUTRÉ GALLERY MELBOURNE
JUNE 3rd - 19th

Join us tomorrow night for the opening of  "Dearly Beloved" - new paintings by Loretta Lizzio. The Melbourne based artist channels the uninhabited wilderness in her works. Animals, from the mildest to the most barbaric are the vessel Loretta uses to burrow into and reveal her own deeply layered self. Through her obsessive line work, Loretta captures a sensuous desire for freedom, adventure and love using pen, pencil and oils. For her show, she has restored salvaged wood and paper as the bases to create her escapes.

The artist has spent years sharpening this sensitivity with her subjects while working across publishing, photography, and advertising industries. The artworks she creates show her subjects as creatures of substance, radiating in the life that Loretta supercharges into her artworks.

Forgotten fairy tales, spectacles of cinema, fleeting glances and dog eared National Geographic’s are Loretta’s inspiration to make art and tell her stories.

The show opens at 6pm Friday - no RSVP required. All welcome. Drinks courtesy of Sailor Jerry.

UPCOMING EXHIBITION

LOUISE KYRIAKOU
"LIFE AND TIMES" EXHIBITION - THE SMALL WALL PROJECT
OUTRÉ GALLERY MELBOURNE
JUNE 24 - JULY 3

Louise Kyriakou is an artist who uses painting and ceramics to make art that celebrates both the connection of culture and the uniqueness of each individual. Stylised faces, reduced almost to symbols, have long been a characteristic of her work, and Louise continues to begin with the most basic shapes and forms and then builds upon these to create a visual exploration of the common links of humanity and the abundance of attributes that set us all apart.

For her show "Life and Times" the artist will be exhibiting a collection of her well known ceramic faces. The artist is exploring the figurative motif further in original paintings, whereas, unlike her monochromatic ceramics, these paintings contrast with their bold colour palette. Kyriakou's show promises to offer a lovely contrast and layer to those already familiar with her work.

To RSVP and/or sign up for a preview of Louise Kyriakou's Exhibition with SWP, please fill out our Small Wall Project Mailing List form here!

Shag fans! We're eagerly anticipating the pending arrival of 3 new prints including this one at left titled "Balcony on Sunset". Set on the famous Sunset Strip in LA and overlooking a sea of classic advertising signage - the sort of thing Don Draper and co might have worked up in a Madison Avenue office. In addition to this expect two huge panoramic serigraph editions - "Primal Cuts" being one and another special surprise - the prints and full details will be on our site shortly, but in the meantime call into the gallery or call to find out more details. These are only available to our Australian customers (we ship Australia wide for those not in Melbourne or Perth). Stay tuned for details of Shag's next visit to Oz, scheduled for 2017. Details here as soon as they come to hand. And as always, check out our site here for more Shag prints.

Brand new release from Melbourne based artist, illustrator and tattoo artist Stephen Doan is "Imperial Street Dance". Those who've visited the gallery in recent times will be familiar with Doan's unique portraits of Mike Ehrmantraut and Saul Goodman. This new signed and numbered edition features a trio of the Dark Side's minions in synchronised boogaloo. Movement, humour and the Force - what more could you ask for?! Available for purchase on-line now HERE or in Melbourne next week (and Perth soon after). Priced at $120 framed, this print is sure to please.

The show, installed quite differently than our usual exhibitions, consisted of 94 original artworks all clipped/pinned onto our gallery walls making the space look very much like an artist's studio meets fashion house.

Over half of the works have already been snapped up, but there is some great originals still available (all priced between $80 and $200). Click HERE to see the full show.

In conjunction with the show there were two signed and numbered limited edition giclee print editions released: "Nick Cave" (click here) and "Kurt Cobain" (click here) - each $135 framed.

XENOPLASM: FORTHCOMING FEATURE SHOW
OUTRÉ GALLERY MELBOURNE

JULY 8th - JULY 22nd

‘Xenoplasm’ explores the current movement of ‘West meets East’ within Art-toy production painting and illustration. Bringing together Japanese tradition in toy design and production mixed with Western pop culture, horror, and a sci-fi aesthetic, and how the two have influenced each other.

‘Xenoplasm’ will showcase over 20 hand picked international artists that Outré Gallery believes are ambassadors of the scene, to introduce this niche genre to Australia.

The show intends to officially introduce this fresh new perspective to the Australian Toy and Art community, in all its distinctively coloured, gruesome, fantastical and detailed glory.
