"A SEAT IN THE KINGDOM" - new paintings and prints by Shag
 

Opening 4pm to 6pm Saturday 25 March- SYDNEY OPENING

The Sydney leg of Shag's exhibition "A Seat in the Kingdom" opens at our pop-up gallery space in Surry Hills this Saturday (with a book signing on Sunday). Join us and the artist in this show, Shag's 10th exhibition in Australia with the artist first showing with Outré back in 1997, and his first solo show with us in 1999. This is Shag's his last solo exhibition anywhere in the world for the next couple of years so make sure you don't miss this one! The exhibition is running concurrently in Melbourne until April 7 (as always we're open 7 days a week).

SHAG MELBOURNE EXHIBITION OPENING
What a night it was in Melbourne last Friday for the opening and artist reception of "A Seat in the Kingdom". To say it was busy would be an understatement! The feedback and enthusiasm we've received has been wonderful. Shag chatted to fans and gave a speech, on this, his 10th visit to Australia. Thanks to all who attended the opening and the book signing (those waiting for books will be pleased that they are only a couple of weeks away), and everyone else who has been in to view the exhibition this week. Special thanks to our sponsors Feral Brewing for providing the refreshments for the evening.

 

SHAG: THE COLLECTED WORKS - NEW BOOK AND BOOKSIGNING

We're proud to be hosting book signing with Shag this Sunday in Sydney for his new 192 page hardcover book "Shag: The Collected Works".

** SYDNEY BOOK SIGNING WITH SHAG - Sunday 26 March 12-1pm at Outré Pop-Up - 374 Crown St, Surry Hills (just a few hundred metres away from our old Sydney gallery) - all welcome - no RSVP required.
LAY-BY AND INTERSTATE SHIPPING
Did you know we offer a convenient lay-by service? Everything in the gallery can be put on lay-by with a 25% deposit and lay-byed from between 1 and 4 months, depending on the price. We also offer this service for those outside of Melbourne - we can set-up a lay-by over the phone and we can safely and securely send your piece straight to your doorstep on completion of the lay-by.

KELS O'SULLIVAN
EXHIBITING IN THE SMALL WALL PROJECT
OUTRÉ GALLERY MELBOURNE
APRIL 21 - MAY 4

Heavily influenced by the discipline of modernism, pattern & textile design of the mid century, Kelly O'Sullivan creates work that is made up of clean and simple shapes based from a grid system. Her work symbolises her relationships with everyday forms, expressing emotion, reflecting experiences and surroundings through the use geometry, colour, pattern, line and repetition.  

In the body of work for 'Gridlines' Kelly further explores the creation of abstract form through the use of a simple grid system. Kelly says "It's about carving out an abstract form from a simple grid that were originally inspired by form and lines in the natural environment and urban architecture"

Opening concurrently with our forthcoming Kels O'Sullivan exhibition is our "Mid Century Modern Mixed" group exhibition featuring a curated selection of art from and inspired by the era of the mid 20th century. For sale and on exhibit will be an eclectic mix ranging from original vintage work from the era:  architectural renderings, vintage 1960s Syd Mead prints for US Steel, original paintings from Scandinavia from the 1950s and 60s (courtesy of Gallery Midlandia in Collingwood), to present day work from contemporary artists such as Chris Turnham from the US and Steve Millington from the UK. Stay tuned for more details soon!
 
Shag will be interviewed on 3PBS's "Ports of Paradise" show today (Friday 24th March) between 9 and 11am.
