The Countdown to
Christmas Tree Fest and Colorado Gives Day!

Our annual Christmas Tree Festival (December 7th & 8th) and Colorado Gives Day (December 10th) are just around the corner!  Tickets are on sale for both our AM and PM Christmas Tree Festival (and are almost sold out,) and donations for Colorado Gives Day can be pre-scheduled at www.coloradogives.org, with matching gifts provided by 1st Bank.

Last year we raised $28,000 through gifts that ranged from $5 to $5,000 on Colorado Gives Day, and we'd love to surpass that this year!  Please help us by remembering to participate in the state-wide day of giving. You can also help by encouraging your friends, family, fellow employees, and staff to give a gift on December 10th. We'd like to challenge every business to achieve 100% employee gift giving to a charity on Colorado Gives Day. Click here to learn how to set up a fundraiser for TLC through Colorado Gives.

Both of these events are critical to helping us fulfill our mission towards serving all kids with high quality educational and therapeutic programming, and they’re fun, too!

Have Your Business Sponsor the Christmas Tree Festival

Give the gift of education and health to kids by sponsoring this annual event. Sponsorship opportunities are available from $250 - $5000, and will be visible to an estimated 600+ attendees. All funds go directly to support the mission and the kids at TLC. Contact Michelle for a sponsorship packet at mhenry@LearningWithTLC.org

How to Reserve a Place for Your Infant or Toddler

Please call Cindy at 303-776-7417.  We anticipate our infant and toddler slots will fill fast, so don’t wait! And be sure to mark your calendar for a ribbon cutting and Infant & Toddler Open House at 4:00 p.m., January 14, 2014.

TLC Learning Center is thrilled to announce the expansion of our very important mission to provide comprehensive early childhood education and therapeutic services to assist each child in reaching his or her highest potential.  In early 2014, we will joyfully open our renovated center and playground to welcome infants and toddlers!

Why are we expanding? Nearly 90% of brain development occurs in the first five years of life. Early childhood and medical research has proven that a high quality, nurturing, responsive, stimulating environment results in happy children who are successful, both socially and intellectually, throughout life.

At TLC, we know that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, and we look forward to working in partnership with parents to help each child reach his or her greatest potential. We are excited to begin accepting toddlers in early February and to begin serving infants (beginning at 6 weeks of age) at the beginning of March.

Welcome TLC's New Executive Director and Accountant

TLC is happy to announce our new Executive Director is Matt Eldred, who brings over 20 years of experience in working with children and non-profit agencies. Matt is a seasoned early childhood executive, heading The Acorn School for Early Childhood Development in Boulder for 9 years and leading the development of  Wilderness Early Learning Center. His leadership and advocacy for early learning in Boulder County will be a huge asset to TLC as it moves forward to meet new community needs.

We are also thrilled to welcome Joy Messer, who came to TLC after a career of over 20 years as an accounting and finance manager in various industries. She brings a great deal of experience with analysis and planning that will be put to good at TLC.  She holds a BS from the University of Colorado with emphasis in both accounting and finance.

TLC & Longmont United Hospital

TLC Learning Center has a contract to see and work with the tiniest of babies in LUH’s nursery, and with children in their pediatric department who need therapies. We work with babies and their families in a variety of areas including:
  • Feeding
  • Issues related to prematurity
  • Calming and organizing behavior
  • Issues related to range of motion, such as a tight foot
  • Issues related to difficult births that cause trauma, and much more.
If the baby continues to need intervention once they go home, we are able to seamlessly make the transition from therapy at the hospital to home. It’s hard on the whole family to have a baby in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), so having a relationship with TLC established and then continuing into the home is
wonderful.

We also get referrals from hospitals in Denver. Sometimes a baby is either born in Denver or transferred right after birth due to the complexity of the medical situation. Once they are ready to be discharged and come back to Longmont, we are available to provide their therapeutic needs.

Alisdair's festive gear is a great reminder to buy your Christmas Tree Festival Tickets, and to spread the word that Colorado Gives Day is coming up on December 10th!
