Workshop on eVTOL Defining Challenges for Urban Air Mobility:
System Safety, Infrastructure and Airspace Management

The Vertical Flight Society is hosting a workshop on the "defining challenges" of electric VTOL aircraft, Sept. 10-12, at the US Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. This three-day workshop is focused on the biggest barriers that need to be solved to realize the potential of eVTOL for urban air mobility (UAM), including what key organizations are working on and looking for any gaps or overlaps in standards developments.

Registration is now open! We made the rates extra low to maximize the educational opportunity.

  • US Federal Govt Employees and Speakers: $150
  • VFS Members: $300
  • Non-Members: $400 (includes 1 year of VFS membership)

Note: since this is a working meeting, members of the press cannot attend.

We expect this event to sell out. All registration rates will increase by $50 on August 15 if there are still seats left.

There are a limited number of sponsorships available. Go to for more information.

Electric VTOL at Oshkosh

The Vertical Flight Society attended the Experimental Aviation Association's Annual AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 22-28, 2019. During the event, VFS posted several photo galleries on Facebook and tweeted live from Oshkosh on Twitter. Rex Alexander, VFS Advisor for VTOL Infrastructure, filed these reports with Aero-News Network:

In addition, 22 of the world’s leading electric aircraft developers and technology experts spoke at the CAFE Foundation’s 13th Annual Electric Aircraft Symposium (EAS) at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, on July 20-21. VFS and the CAFE Foundation have been working to advance electric aviation for many years and partnered again for this year’s EAS. VFS members also live-tweeted news from the EAS.
