The ((Quiet)) Electric VTOL Revolution
Panel at Heli-Expo 2020

Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020 @ 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA @ Room 210 AB

Going to Heli-Expo? VFS has partnered with Vertical Magazine to host this third annual panel discussion at Heli-Expo, with experts discuss the acoustic benefits of eVTOL aircraft. Leading members from the eVTOL industry and HAI’s Fly Neighborly/Environmental Committee will provide their perspectives in this important discussion, and invite greater engagement from the rotorcraft operational community.

Moderated by Elan Head, Vertical Magazine

  • Jim Sherman, Vertical Flight Society
  • Juliet Page, Volpe — HAI Fly Neighborly/Environmental Committee Chair
  • Mark Moore, Uber Technologies
  • Ben Goldman, Joby Aviation
Note that HAI is also holding a "Urban Air Mobility Forum," on the afternoon before. More details can be found on both events at https://vtol.org/evtol-revolution.

The panel will be video recorded and posted in the VFS Video Library.

Transformative Vertical Flight 2020 Meeting Sold Out!

The Transformative Vertical Flight 2020 with our 7th Annual eVTOL Symposium will take place in San Jose, California, Jan. 21-23, 2020. Overall, the event includes 60 technical paper authors and 60+ invited speakers will present the gamut of technologies, technical breakthroughs, key challenges and innovative solutions for transformative vertical flight aircraft. Keynote talks are being provided by leaders in government and industry, including NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), US Army Future Vertical Lift (FVL) program, the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy (OSTP), Bell, Joby, Lockheed Martin and Uber. (Read press release)

Each year we move to a larger and larger facility, but the eVTOL Symposium event sold out for the third year in a row. We are beyond capacity an no one else can be registered. We will be video recording the eVTOL presentations and providing the PDFs of the presentations within a few weeks after the event — subject to the approval of the presenters. Stay tuned!

Please plan for the 8th Annual eVTOL Symposium next January, in Mesa, Arizona, as well as our 76th Annual Forum this May in Montreal!
eVTOL Workshop: Infrastructure for UAM

Following the Vertical Flight Society's very successful Workshop on eVTOL Defining Challenges in September, VFS is hosting a follow-on 2-day solution-focused Workshop on Infrastructure for Urban Air Mobility on March 17-18, 2020, at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey (not far from the FAA Tech Center in Atlantic City or Philadelphia).

NEXA Advisors and the Vertical Flight Society have collaborated on an important study, "Urban Air Mobility (UAM) — Economics and Global Markets." This groundbreaking study covers market and economic forecasts for 74 metropolitan areas, 2020 – 2040, including technologies, policies, markets, infrastructure and economics. All 74 cities have been examined with deep city-level analysis and built out. See for a demo of New York City’s UAM potential!
The Vertical Flight Society's 76th Annual Forum and Technology Display will be held May 19-21, 2020 at the Palais des Congres de Montreal in Montreal, Quebec, with the theme, “The Future of Vertical Flight.”

The VFS Annual Forum is the world's leading international conference on vertical flight technology. The three-day event will include more than 250 technical presentations on every discipline from Acoustics to Unmanned Systems. Featured this year will be in-depth eVTOL technical paper sessions, a series of invited expert panels and speakers, and a new Short Course on Electric VTOL Aircraft Design.

The Technology Display, running concurrently with the Forum, is the most extensive exposition of cutting edge vertical flight technologies in the world, and also includes other technologies more broadly applicable to aerospace in general. Submit your application to exhibit at the world's largest and longest-running vertical flight technology conference.
