THE HH@HH HERALD

January 2015
Welcome back and a very Happy New Year to everyone, in this, the Centenary year of Twilight Aged Care.

We had a lovely Christmas party in our new home at Hunters Hill and enjoyed celebrating the festive season with so many of you.  Thank you to those who RSVP'd - it does help enormously when we're catering for such large numbers and trying to make everything so special for everyone. Sandy was back from her trip to the West Indies in time to join the fun and Sara left shortly afterwards.  We're all missing her and looking forward to welcoming her back at the end of January and hearing about her trip to Europe.

Sadly, Jeanette (Jenny) Walker passed away earlier this month but we were thankful that we were able to care for her to the end and that she was able to die peacefully at home.

Alex, our Maintenance Manager is taking some long overdue leave and most tradespeople are on annual leave in January, but at the beginning of February, we will be finishing off many of the maintenance jobs around the Home; hanging televisions on walls, putting up light fittings, completing installation of the air conditioning, heavy doors, etc. We know some of these jobs are causing a little frustration but I do thank you for your patience and understanding and assure you that it is a priority to have the work finished as soon as possible.

Work commenced on the renovations at Horton House Gordon before Christmas, decommissioning many utilities and items and clearing the property.  We will be filming the renovations and showing video clips on our website and facebook page - watch this space for more news about how to view the activity.  It will be fascinating to watch the builders at work, creating our wonderful new environment.

Here's to a happy and settled 2015.
With warmest wishes, Fiona

Sandy says ...

December is always busy for all of us.  We celebrated birthdays for the month followed by our residents & family Christmas party which was enjoyed by all.  What a day!  Dot once again created a feast and then the best part of the day, the raffles and seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter from the residents receiving their gifts from Santa (looking mysteriously like Sandy). We received so many thanks and astonishing compliments afterwards, in particular from the original residents of Hunters Hill and invited guests, who for the first time witnessed our celebrations.

Cecily continues to make an impression with music therapy, as well as playing on the day of our party. John is continuing to make his mark with Tai-Chi, keeping the residents calm and focussed.

A big thank you to our friends at Ravenswood School for Girls who sent lovely Christmas hampers which were greatly received and appreciated.
