Adventures Along the Seafarer's Trail!

Note from Lisa:

Unlike 2012 when Super Storm Sandy hit, Mystic's hurricane season has been quiet so far. But Connecticut does have big new for Sherlock fans!

The long lost 1916 film starring Connecticut's famous Sherlock Holmes, actor William Gillette, has been found in France! It will air this September at Gillette's Castle in East Haddam.

When Sir Author Conan Doyle first met Gillette at a train station, he was shocked--it was as if Sherlock Holmes had come to life. Gillette, who revolutionized the art of acting, gave Holmes the curved smoking pipe and he, like Holmes, loved only one woman...

P.S. This newsletter is a continuation of my travel memoir, Mystic Seafarer's Trail.
TV chef Jacques Pépin visited Mystic on Aug. 12 to dine with his wife and friends after appearing on my show where he tells what it was like to be Julia Child's friend, how a person who has never cooked can start, plus suggestions on cooking socially--especially for those living alone. Pépin even gives us an idea of what we'd eat if we were his dinner guests! Look for his new show and cookbook this fall.
