South Africa, is gearing up to #KeepItTogether this Shabbos.
Check out some of what's happening across the country.

South Eastern Luncheon

The South Eastern Hebrew Congregation in Rosetenville will host a communal lunch for all community members to join.

#KeepingItTogether in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs
Families will host those who have never fully observed Shabbos before. There’ll also be a communal Shabbos dinner at the Claremont Wynberg Hebrew Congregation, and a bountiful brocha on Shabbos day.

Jam Packed!
There’ll be no less than three Friday night shul services and communal dinners at The Shul of the West Coast; a Shabbos lunch, children’s programmes and an intimate Havdallah ceremony.

Linksfield Spreads the Light
The Linksfield congregation is starting off their week with a Havdallah Dip and Decoration of candles for the kids, pus a shiur about a "Practical Shabbat - in the kitchen with Rebbetzin Chaya Avtzon" on Wednesday 22 October. The Friday night service will be followed by light snacks and various communal dinners in the area. Shabbos day will include amazing programmes for kids, walk and talk with Rabbi Bokow and a Fabreng with the gang with Rabbi Avtzon. A beautiful Havdallah service of tantalizing senses will complete the Shabbos weekend.

Doing your own thing?
A street party dinner is happening for the residents of Nicholson Road, Fairvale. Three streets will be #KeepingItTogther under the stars. There are also lots of other community street dinners popping up all over the hood.
 

Pamper party
School children and members of other community organisations have paired up with the residents at Our Parents Home and Sandringham Gardens retirement home to help make their Shabbos extra special. Yeshiva schoolgirls are pairing up with bobbas to bake challah together. On Friday the girls will be back, cosmetic tool kits in hand, to pamper the ladies for Shabbos.

#SpreadingLight
Thanks to WIZO, all girls and teachers at the Durban Jewish Day School will receive Shabbos candles and blessing cards. They'll be handing them out at Durban's Great Challah Bake as well.

Shabbos in Graaffies!

Join Guy Lieberman and Brett Morris who are keeping it together in Graaff-Reinet, of all places! The Lieberman and Morris families will be there for the launching of the Giant Flag Project. The only Jewish person living in Graaff-Reinet will join them for Shabbos meals. Who would have thought? Shabbos in the Valley of Desolation!

Join Alex Clare for Dinner
The Ohrsom Student Dinner will be happening in the open parking lot, outside Corner Cafe in Glenhazel.
International British superstar, Alex Clare will be joining the party.

Yeshiva is in the mix!
Shabbos gets off to an uplifting musical start with a ‘Pre-Shabbos Jam’ in the Mizrachi courtyard on the Yeshiva College Campus, followed by Carlebach-style davening in the Main Shul. There’ll be three communal learning options for all levels on the campus from midday, with a men’s seudah and an inspirational ladies’ learning session later in the afternoon. A soul-stirring Havdallah concert will bring what is sure to be the most memorable Shabbos experience yet, to an emotional end.

Three generations #KeepingItTogether!
There will be a three generation challah bake happening at Torah Academy. Including all nursery school girls, their moms and bobbas. Torah Academy have invited all the neighbouring nursery schools to join in the fun!

Lace Up!
Kids at King David and Yeshiva are receiving brightly coloured, neon yellow shoe laces to wear to school when they get three friends to sign up to keep The Shabbos Project.

The Knowledge
Grow your Shabbos knowledge by learning at The Kollel Yad Shaul, or join members of the shul’s community for a meal and experience Shabbos in all its beauty.

Make it Interactive!
Teachers, learners and parents take note! The wonderful team at Jewish Interactive will be offering a free download of their great Shabbat learning module. What's more, you can get creative with their J Studio Shabbos Collection, also available to download free for The Shabbos Project.

Fourways Joins the Party
There will be a communal Shabbos candle lighting and a Friday night communal dinner at Chabad of Fourways, and a Havdallah ceremony to end things off with a bang!

Joint Operations
Waverley and Savoy Unite! All the shuls in the area are coming together for one massive combined Shabbos Project street dinner. Join Ohr Somayach Savoy, Chabad of Savoy, Waverley Shul and Beit Yisrael Waverley.

Rhodes Island Shabbos

The Johannesburg Sephardi Hebrew Congregation, together with three special families will be hosting a shabbos dinner with Rhodes Island delicacies. There will also be a communal lunch happening, and a full day function running at the shul.

A Chavrusah with a Twist

There will learning before the start of Shabbos at Adass Yeshurun. After dinner, everyone is welcome to attend a tish. There will be a family learning chavrusah with a twist, and a bumper Kiddush. An "ask the Rabbi" session and zmirot challenge is also on the menu. There will be Kids programmes and a Womans Seudah Shlishit too.

Star light, Star bright!
The Ohr Somayach, Gallo Manor congregation is also taking the Shabbos Project outside with a ‘Street Party Kiddush’ under the stars after shul on Friday night followed by a communal Shabbos dinner. To balance the festivities there’ll be a panel discussion on ‘Jewish Ethics’ on Shabbos day.

Surprise Speaker
Chabad of Norwood will host a communal Friday night dinner. Join in for Kashrut tales from Rabbi Baumgarten on Shabbos day. A communal lunch will be happening with a surprise guest speaker!
Plus a Seudah Shlishit and and fun-filled childrens programs will be running throughout the day.

Music to my Shabbos Ears
Oshy Tugendhaft, and The Moshav Band join Yudi Cohen, and choir on the Bimah on Friday night at Sydenham Shul. There will be a street brocha and, after dinner, a tish will take place at Nachi and Adi Kay. Join this community for their big Shabbos luncheon with guest entertainment Illusionist Ilan Smith. There will be children’s programmes as well as an after lunch programme which is open to everyone.
