A Christmas Message

Those of us involved in leadership will undoubtedly have experienced some of its challenges, it's frustrations and its blessings during 2018. Many of us feel ill-equipped for the task and share the emotions of many of the leaders in the Bible who usually were reluctant to take on this role. Whilst few of us would boast of our leadership skills I'm sure most of us would confess our deep sense of privilege in being entrusted with such honor and responsibility.

To be involved in leading Assemblies of God is no mean task. We do it with a sense of stewardship as we carry what was handed to us by our forefathers with the goal of handing it on faithfully to those coming after us. All our leadership, whatever its shape, is temporal and seasonal and for that reason we must all hold lightly any position we are called to.

After much debate and prayer, Assemblies of God has made some significant changes during 2018 relating to leadership and governance. The effect of such will usher in new leadership and systems which the NLT trust will provide fresh momentum and fulfilled expectations.

Speaking about leadership and governance leads me to the words of Isaiah;
"For to us a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace, there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”

The message of Christmas is not only about God sending a Saviour, but also of installing a King! Ever since the fall and throughout history, governance has always been an issue. The situation in the UK regarding Brexit is an up to date example of human leadership. Worldly systems of Royalty, Democracy, Presidents, Emperors, Dictators, Dynasties, however gifted, are flawed and short lived. But God has a solution! There is ONE who IS qualified to be KING and govern the whole world....forever!

Christmas is the season of ADVENT – a twofold celebration – for what has been and for what is coming!

The first part of the mission of Christ - He came to die

The second part of the mission of Christ - He’s coming to reign

God intends to sort the world out! Its present systems will be abolished. Corrupt rule will be brought to nothing. The terrible unfairness & justice in the world will end. Every PM, President, Dictator, Emperor, Governor, Despot, King, Queen will be moved aside at the Second Advent of Jesus, a new heaven & earth will be ushered in, with no more sin, sickness, death, dying, injustice, corruption, or pain.

This world will not come to an end through global warming but GLOBAL APPEARING!

Titus 2:13: “We look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our GREAT GOD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST WILL BE REVEALED”

YES – the next time the world sees Jesus, He will not be clothed in swaddling bands but Robes of Majesty, shining with the glory of a thousand suns. Just as there were angels at His birth, suffering, death, resurrection and ascension, so Angels will fill the skies again at His Second Advent!

Every celebrity, authority, person will fall on their knees before Him -and HE WILL REIGN FOREVER & EVER!

Make no mistake – it WILL happen. God stakes His name on it – “The zeal of the Lord Almighty WILL accomplish this”

The NLT send their warmest Christmas greetings to you all, praying that the glory and wonder of the incarnation will overwhelm you and flood your hearts with heavens peace and joy!
