Living Everyday
Wonder-- Emotions

To affirm is to declare that something is 100 percent true, and to stand in that truth — even in the face of all evidence to the contrary.  Affirmations are positive statements of intention that direct your focus to what you want to experience.

My mind is clear and alert.

Reverend Bonnie L. Smith

Reverend Bonnie felt the call to ministry when she was in High School back in the 70’s. She attended Grinnell College where she double majored in religion and psychology graduating with a BA (1980).  Reverend Bonnie then became a certified American Sign Language interpreter, and has been serving the deaf community for over 30 years.
Rev Bonnie found her home in Religious Science in 2000 when she walked into the Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living. She moved to Las Cruces in 2006 as she started her last year at the Holmes Institute with the goal of becoming a Community Spiritual Leader in some capacity through the Centers for Spiritual Living.  She received her MA in Consciousness Studies from the Holmes Institute in 2007. Presently she is an ordained Religious Science minister and Practitioner, and in the spring of 2013 began serving CSL in the Heart of Las Cruces, first as Interim, and then as the Permanent Community Spiritual Leader in November 2014.
Rev. Bonnie believes that uplifting our consciousness uplifts and changes our lives. You can meet with her for personal spiritual counseling, pastoral care, or to gain a deeper understanding of these teachings by making an appointment. Rev. Bonnie and the Center are also available to serve you in celebrating life events such as weddings, & memorials, etc. In addition, she is also fluent in American Sign Language. Rev. Bonnie can be reached by calling or texting 575-635-8081, emailing, or leaving her a message at the Center.

2022 Potential Board members
Douglas Bensen and Laurie Macomber
Husband to Sarah and the father of five children, Douglas Bensen, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and has journeyed through San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, Fort Worth and Houston before moving to Las Cruces in 2019 to continue becoming a "garden in the desert."

He is a retired Principal/Architect for a top-rated architectural school design firm and a Planner for the 8th largest bank in the U.S.  He designed and managed over 1.4 billion in project development; Stanford (B.S.); UCLA (Masters in Architecture.)

Currently, Douglas volunteers and serves on the board for Casa de Peregrinos (Food Pantry) in Las Cruces. CSL has become "home" for him to share the gift of who he is with others in a safe environment that is both nurturing and challenging to further explore together with you who we are in Spirit as Love.
Laurie Macomber comes to us this last summer from Ft. Collins, Colorado where she had lived after 16 years of being a native New Yorker. In northern Colorado she was a member of the Center for Spiritual Living based in Greeley.

She has just retired after having her own Search Engine Optimization (SEO) company called Blue Skies Marketing - which was pretty well known for differentiating keyword research. (Facebook at one time was a client of hers, for example.)

Laurie is a graduate of New York University and lived overseas as a child growing up in Kabul, Afghanistan )when it was a kingdom!) and London, England and Bonn, Germany.

In retirement she is serving on the board as well as publishing a newsletter for her neighborhood, going to DACC for Culinary Arts (long a dream of hers), caring for her 91 year old mother in El Paso, and training her new rescue dog - a half Aussie and half Border Collie named Dakota.
Our May 2022 tithe recipient is the Aggie Cupboard.
The Mission of the Aggie Cupboard is to provide free supplementary food assistance to the NMSU community, including Las Cruces and DACC students, faculty, and staff.  We strive to create an atmosphere of care, concern, and support for those who may be struggling with food insecurity.  The Aggie Cupboard works to educate on the prevalence of food insecurity and hunger experienced by the NMSU community.

We are now sponsoring park clean up at Apodaca Park located at 801 E Madrid in Las Cruces.  Previously, we had a stretch of Valley Drive near Avenida de Mesilla, but due to safety concerns, the city no longer has clean up crews working road ways. They now have us clean up parks and path ways. CSL chose to take on Apodaca Park and we look forward to working with folks to provide Sacred Service by helping keep this park clean. Contact the office at 575-523-4847 (HUGS) to participate or email Amy Rohr, our member who has agreed to spearhead this project, at the office email address,
