Making Contract: Relaxing This, Discovering THAT.  June 13-17

Heart of Perception: Feeling the Moment.  June 20-23

Form, Space, and Moments. June 26-29

This year the Miksang Institute is presenting our curriculum differently. We have some new essential exercises and ways to help students develop and deepen the ability to see non-conceptually. The basic focus of each course has not changed, but our new approach skips a lot of the talking and goes right to the essential experience of each section. This is more an immersion approach, and it’s lots of fun. We could call it, ‘Experiencing the Essence of Direct, Unfiltered Perception.’ Each course is further described on our website.
For an introductory taste of where and how we begin our Miksang Journey, we recommend the purchase of “Opening the Good Eye Book Companion”. This pdf is a pre-requisite for the first course, ‘Making Contact: Relaxing This, Discovering That.’
Additionally, we now have a Course Companions in pdf format for each workshop as support for students as they practice and integrate this material. These are available for purchase upon completion of each workshop.
Our workshops will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, an old port city on the Atlantic seaboard with a deeply imbedded tradition of Maritime English and Scottish culture.
We suggest that you visit here to view our course descriptions and details of the Summer Institute Program.

Relaxing This. Discovering THAT

Making Contact with Paul Giguere May 3-6, 2019. Cambridge, MA

Workshop Location:
Cambridge Art Association
25R Lowell Street
Cambridge, MA 02138

• Friday, May 3rd: 6pm–8 p.m. (Introductory Evening)
• Saturday, May 4th through Monday May 6th: 9 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

In this workshop we prepare ourselves to see and recognize when we have a fresh perception, understand it, and express it with our camera. We learn to develop a sense of equanimity about what we see. In Making Contact, we work with our resistance to seeing without an agenda, and our struggle to make our world conform to what we want to see. We discover that real seeing takes place on the other side of boredom. As we cross this boundary we discover a world of floating wonder for us to play in.

In the Making Contact Workshop, we are introduced to the four main practices of Miksang: Recognizing Freshness, Seeing the One Thing, Deep Noticing and the Miksang Core Practice.
