Has your PTA/PTSA filed tax returns and other required financial reports (IRS, FTB, and RRF-1) for the 2019-20 school year?

If all reports have been filed with the IRS and California, thank you!
Copies of the reports now need to be uploaded into the myPTEZ Document Management section.  Contact us for instructions if needed, or email copies of all reports to so we can upload them.

If some or all of the tax forms have not been filed yet, here are some tips.

  • All forms are due November 16 if your PTA/PTSA's fiscal year ends on June 30. If your PTA/PTSA's annual gross income was less than $50,000, file 990N and 199N forms (ePostcards). A CT-TR-1 form must be mailed with the RRF-1 form. No time extension is allowed for 990N filings, but fortunately they are relatively easy to fill out. If you need help, please contact Emily Sarver at ASAP!

  • If your PTA/PTSA has annual gross income $50,000 or more, and you cannot get the paperwork together in time, please submit IRS form 8868 to get an extension of your deadline.  Find it here:

Annotated examples of the updated RRF-1 and new CT-TR-1 forms are helpful!

If your PTA/PTSA uses a CPA to file the tax returns, please make sure to review the tax returns for accuracy, give permission to file them, and get confirmation of filing – don’t just assume that they have been filed because you have a paper copy from the CPA.

Thank you for your hard work in these challenging times! We appreciate all your efforts to keep your PTA/PTSA’s non-profit status current!
