Spring in the Capital

Hopefully everyone is healthy, safe and looking forward to a great summer! I hope everyone managed to outlast the late May storm as well.

Spring is in full swing and we are now looking ahead into the warmer months with great optimism!

Whether you bike, garden, walk, run, swim, paddle, hike, or however else you move, remember to warmup first, stretch and take breaks as needed. Also, remember to hydrate as well as the days get warmer we tend to sweat more.

At any rate, I wanted to thank everyone for their continued trust in me, allowing me to help enhance your wellness.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the clinic and hopefully everyone is doing great! Feel free to connect with me if you have any questions or comments, I highly encourage you to!

Best,

Keaton

New Modality - PBM Red Light Therapy
Keaton is now offering as an addition to a massage therapy or bodywork session, Red Light Therapy, or photobiomodulation. It is a proven therapy that can enhance your session in numerous ways including :

-  Protects and boosts new collagen production
-  Stimulates healing of slow-healing wounds
-  Helps to repair sun damage
-  Promotes anti-aging
-  Reduces scars, stretch marks, and wrinkles
-  Cures acne
-  Speed up muscle recovery
-  Aids relieve arthritis pain
-  Treats rosacea, eczema, psoriasis

Whether you are an athlete or a fitness enthusiast, Red Light therapy can work wonders in speeding up muscle recovery from intense training and physical exercise. You can find a clinical study proving its benefits
here. It also offers pain relief, as well as accelerates bone and connective tissue healing from fitness-related injuries.

-  Strength (leads to more reps, greater torque, and stronger grip)
-  Muscle (light therapy stimulates natural muscle growth for more bulk and size)
-  Speed (run faster times with more velocity)
-  Endurance (longer shifts with less of an oxygen deficit)
-  Soreness & muscle fatigue after demanding workouts
-  Muscle recovery – improved blood flow & oxygen
-  Efficient cellular energy synthesis

Researchers have conducted multiple peer-reviewed trials and studies on various kinds of light therapy (also referred to as photobiomodulation or low-level laser therapy). The research has shown an overwhelming amount of positive results. It’s a legitimate and widely-used health intervention to improve how you feel, look and perform.

In fact, NASA studied light therapy in the late 1980s and 1990s for use in space, and over the last two decades. The clinical consensus is that red and NIR light treatments are non-invasive, safe and effective, with a wide range of potential uses.

Light is essential for our health and cellular function, just like water, sleep, and the nutrients from food. The human body is designed to function with an abundance of natural sunlight. The truth is, most people do not get nearly enough sunlight spending over 90% of their lives indoors.

For your treatment, the light therapy can be directed at an area with the device (such as upper, lower back, hands, feet, knees etc - during a Massage therapy/stretching session) and your body & cells absorb the healthy light. Red Light Therapy treatments are also completely non-invasive and don’t include any ultra violet (UV) rays.
Mask Mandate in Health Care Settings Extended
Further to guidance from my College and the Province - we will continue to have masks in place until (at least) June 11, 2022.

Please continue to wear masks for appointments and to enter to use Normatec!

As of June 1st we have not been instructed any further regarding masking beyond June 11, 2022, However - I will continue to mask, and I also ask that patients evaluate their own comfort level regarding wearing a mask. Although it is highly encouraged it is not mandatory.

The message below is regarding maintaining masking for heath care settings that will continue until June 11, 2022.

On April 22, 2022, the Ontario Government
announced an extension of mask mandates in select settings until June 11, 2022. This includes health care settings, public transit, long-term care homes, retirement homes, shelters, and other congregate care settings.

**Massage Therapy practices are considered health care settings.

Masking: As of March 21, masks will no longer be required, except for public transit, health care settings, long-term care homes and congregate care settings. CMTO considers all RMT practice settings to be health care settings for the purposes of the masking mandate. RMTs will continue to wear surgical/procedural masks and clients will be expected to wear a mask until April 27, 2022.

Health and Safety Measures in Place

The Province of Ontario and the Ministry of Health has granted Regulated Health Practitioners permission to gradually and responsibly reopen their practices, following strict health measures and guidelines set out.
Because of the risk factors and how (COVID-19) is transmitted, measures will be put in place to reduce risks as much as possible especially to those most vulnerable.
One of these measures include wearing face masks. The Chief Medical Officer of Canada recommends face masks, and that they do in fact help to reduce the risk of transmission when used correctly.

Procedure/measures that will be implemented in addition to existing cleaning/disinfecting include:

- Pre-Appointment screening (received 24hrs prior to appointment - read and confirm)
- Screening at the appointment prior to treatment
- 15 Minute Gaps between appointments (This will allow for sufficient time for client departure, extra sanitizing measures)

- Patients will be asked to wear masks (Please bring your own clean mask. Medical mask or level greater is encouraged. If you do not have one you will be provided with one at no cost.
- Patients will be asked to arrive on-time (no earlier than 5 minutes prior) and come by yourself for your appointment
- Patient should sanitize or wash hands upon arrival - both options are provided.
- Social Distancing - 6ft (2 metres) in the building, outside of treatment time (During intake, interview, post treatment)
- We will remove all items that cannot be sanitized to further reduce risk of contact transmission.
- FST Straps are now made of vinyl and can be wiped clean after each use.
