Fall is Here!

With fall here to stay and cooler temperatures along with it, now's the time for warm fall drinks, cozy sweaters, pumpkin carving and so much more. I wanted to express a thank you for all the positivity that continues to make its way into the office daily.

As mentioned in my previous mid-month update, we as a staff at Rockcliffe Chiro have all been fully vaccinated and continue to follow all protocols as recommended by the Ministry of Health, OPH and our professional colleges.

In this month's edition, a few working from home tips, and as usual updates and a reminder to review us on google /refer us if you'd like to recommend my services.

Feel free to connect with me if you have any questions or comments, I highly encourage you to!

Working From Home?
As many people over the past year have shifted to working from home, here are a variety of simple tweaks to your physical home office arrangement, and working habits – such as getting active throughout your day/taking phone calls for a walk!,  you can make your time at home a bit less uncomfortable.
Firstly, there are a few easy and affordable ways to make your workstation a bit more posture friendly. An obvious way to break up the monotony of sitting would be to go for a sitting/standing desk (SSD) riser that can easily be placed on an existing surface.
1. Implementation of SSD stations can help reduce things such as back pain, blood pressure and improve health outcomes and behaviours. Dosage (how long, what % of the day spent standing vs seated) may depend on the persons current health status and would be encouraged to not drastically change sitting behaviours initially – instead they would gradually add in standing periods that would be shorter in the beginning and later be longer and more frequent. Amazon has a variety of inexpensive risers.

2. SSD stations would pair well with anti-fatigue mats which help with standing periods and can greatly reduce foot, knee and back discomfort that may occur with extended standing. Many retailers sell anti fatigue mats and can be ordered online through Amazon , Costco etc.
Secondly, simple work habit changes (not changing the physical environment) can make a huge difference in making the home office experience more endurable. There are many ways to break up your day to avoid sitting for extended periods which can irritate postural muscles.
1. Walking/talking on the phone: phone meetings/calls that can be done away from the desk gives us an opportunity to break away from the stationary position and allows us time to move/stretch and increase our metabolism!

2. Frequent micro/water/stretch breaks; walk to a different area in order to move your body. Set a timer or use an app (Water Reminder App or Standup Reminder). These can serve as a simple reminder to break your sitting or stationary habit. Try to start out with a break every 1 -1.5 hrs and see if you can maintain a consistent schedule!

Vaxx Passport? Not Needed for RMT treatments

As Ontario braces for a possible increase of COVID19 cases in the fall, the provincial government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health will require people to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status to access certain businesses and settings starting September 22, 2021.

This new requirement will NOT affect patients seeking Registered Massage Therapy or Kinesiology treatments.
"These requirements will not apply to settings where people receive medical care, food from grocery stores, medical supplies and the like. Aligned with public health measures currently in place, indoor masking policies will continue to remain in place."

We will continue to take appropriate steps and implement measures to protect our patients and community with includes screening, PPE - masks, distancing whenever possible, sanitization, contact tracing, and appointment spacing among many others.

***In addition, each of the service providers of the facility at 1A Springfield Rd; Rockcliffe Chiropractic have confirmed to being fully vaccinated.***

We are taking your health and the health of the community very seriously and thank everyone for doing their part to contribute to this endeavour.

Thank you for your continued trust and support,

Health and Safety Measures in Place

The Province of Ontario and the Ministry of Health has granted Regulated Health Practitioners permission to gradually and responsibly reopen their practices, following strict health measures and guidelines set out.
Because of the risk factors and how (COVID-19) is transmitted, measures will be put in place to reduce risks as much as possible especially to those most vulnerable.
One of these measures include wearing face masks. The Chief Medical Officer of Canada recommends face masks, and that they do in fact help to reduce the risk of transmission when used correctly.

Procedure/measures that will be implemented in addition to existing cleaning/disinfecting include:

- Pre-Appointment screening (received 24hrs prior to appointment - read and confirm)
- Screening at the appointment prior to treatment
- 15 Minute Gaps between appointments (This will allow for sufficient time for client departure, extra sanitizing measures)
- Personal Protective Equipment - Surgical mask will be worn by the therapist.
- Patients will be asked to wear masks (Please bring your own clean mask - reusable or single use) If you do not have one you will be provided with one at no cost.
- Patients will be asked to arrive on-time (no earlier than 5 minutes prior) and come by yourself for your appointment
- Patient should sanitize or wash hands upon arrival - both options are provided.
- Social Distancing - 6ft (2 metres) in the building, outside of treatment time (During intake, interview, post treatment)
- We will remove all items that cannot be sanitized to further reduce risk of contact transmission.
- FST Straps are now made of vinyl and can be wiped clean after each use.
