Just one month to go until Fruit Day.
Sat 20th Sept 11am-2pm in St Mark's Church garden (behind Wimbledon Library).
This is our event to raise funds to keep Abundance Wimbledon running. And it’s also a day to showcase the things people can do with all the free fruit around Wimbledon ... and to relax and have some fun!
We’ll have lots of stalls - all fruit-related. Selling jams, chutneys, fruit cakes, fruit pies, making fresh fruit juice using the fruit press, providing information about looking after your fruit tree, making fruit pies, longest peel competition, Wimbledon honey, jam tasting and music from the wonderful International Ukulele Orchestra.
This year we’ll also have local artists drawing and painting Abundance Fruit Day - so you can watch them paint. Due to popular demand, there will be teas and coffees (and probably some home-made soup too) from Mister P, a local barista.
To make the day a success, we need lots of help:
We need volunteers to help run the stalls. If you can spare an hour or two on Sat 20th Sept 11am-2pm or on Fri 19th Sept to help with preparations - please let us know.
We need things to sell. If you are making jams, chutneys (anything made with local fruit), and have a jar or two to spare, please donate it and we’ll sell it on one of the stalls. If you have any spare food plants (especially fruit or herbs) then please keep them aside – our plant stall will gratefully sell them.
Please get in touch if you can help with anything.
And even if you can’t do any of the above, you will help make Abundance Fruit Day a success by coming along. You will be very welcome. So please put it in your diary.
