This month we have some exciting new exhibits coming up!
Nicole Rayburn this Thursday from 7 - 9pm (October 3rd)

Rayburn is from Dawson City, Yukon but has several connections to Edmonton. Her work at Harcourt House is a series of photographs depicting religious public road signage presented in conjunction with the preceding text panel. This series highlights the mechanisms of advertising present in contemporary religious signage and adopts this same technique for use in personal artistic promotional material.
The contents of the texts are original and remain unaltered. All images were located and photographically documented in Canadian public spaces.

"Art in Our Park" at James Ramsey Park in Riverbend

This is the third year that Harcourt House has participated in the Riverbend, "Art in Our Park" event! This event brings in several Riverbenders every year and we are happy to be sharing our arts programming with the whole Edmonton community. This year previous summer student and now Student Representative, Tiffany Robertson lead this figure drawing workshop! Devon McDonald was our fabulous model whom had plenty of costumes and great poses for the little ones. Thank you Susan Pointe for setting us up with this great opportunity. We will be back next year!

Opening Reception Thursday, October 24 from 8 – 10pm

Artist Talks: BROTMAN 7:00pm, CHUTE 7:30pm

October 24 – November 29, 2013

Chute has come to see the tremendous potential for art as a way to express
mourning, a tool to work through grief and a safe place to explore the meaning
of life. Her work addresses hardship, death, life, renewal and resilience.

“’The Quiet Rebuild’ is ‘quiet’ because the process of rebuilding is a long
journey. It’s not glamorous. It is not a race. Much of the time, healing is
an invisible state. In my experience, art has been a way to express the
inexpressible and my goal is to have captured this inner journey in my work.”
- Chute
