TRY NOT TO GET LOST.

The Edmonton Wayfinding Project and Harcourt House would like to challenge you to try NOT to get lost in the downtown pedway system. We challenge you to take our “Pedcrawl” on Friday, March 14th starting at 7pm and runs until 1am.

The Wayfinding group has done their research and wants you to experience the limitations in our current Pedway signage, and how it creates confusion when attempting to navigate from one point to another. If you don’t already know your way around this system it is difficult to know where you are headed. Now imagine doing this with limited mobility – it would be nearly impossible!

This “Pedcrawl” is intended to challenge the public’s ability to find their way through downtown Edmonton’s pedway systems, and to join the discussion on the need for better wayfinding in Edmonton.

This crawl is open to everyone over the age of 18. If you are not drinking or limiting your consumption, we support you 100%! Just come along and participate in a scavenger hunt!

RSVP on the PEDCRAWL facebook event or with Brittney at harcourteducation@shaw.ca
In Gallery Education is available to groups up to 40 and is open to the public.
Please book two weeks prior to scheduled visit.

  EXHIBITION COORDINATOR

We have a great exhibition program this month featuring three shows that oscillate around the concepts of memory and navigation. The two gallery spaces feature artists who are re-interpreting the past. Karen Dugas – re-members a trip she took to Japan over twenty years ago, and John Latour – alters found photographs and pages from great literary works. Latour also invites visitors to look into the future with his Chair Test, an interactive work that asks participants to predict the characteristics of the next person to engage the Chair Test. In the Hallway Project Space, the Edmonton Wayfinding Project’s second installation presents quotes from theorists, authors and philosophers as examples for visitors to answer the question, ‘What does getting lost mean to you’?
