DISTANCE LEARNING: WHEN PUPILS ARE THE TEACHERS

They have been working together since January, to tell their stories, exchange knowledge and experiences, collect opinions and emotions.
They are the pupils of the 20 classes of the project, in Italy (IC Bosco Chiesanuova, Verona and I.S. Abbé Trèves, Valle d'Aosta), Spain (CEIP Espiñera-Aldán in Galicia), Croatia (Vela Luka High School), Cyprus (Olimpion School) and Greece (Volissos School): 5 primary school classes, 6 secondary school classes, 9 high school classes, all from the mountain and small islands.
They got to know online by telling each other about their territory, its nature and beauties; they got experience in the field, designed and implemented research and teaching tools and then exchanged and shared them online; they collected suggestions and opinions. They overcame language barriers and let their creativity speak for itself. From the youngest to the oldest pupils, it was a firework of ideas and enthusiasm, as their amazing teachers tell us.  
And now the 20 SeedsQuests on nature and biodiversity, forest and coastal heritage, and a plastic-free sea are almost ready and we can't wait to present them. Pupils have so many works to show you and their teachers have a working method to share…

Are you ready to welcome us? Next school year, the woods and the sea of GREEN S.E.E.D.S. will reach the schools in the city. The 20 Seedsquests, with their contents on nature and environment, will be narrated by their young authors as part of class twinning. Each of the 20 classes in the project will be paired with a class from urban schools. An experience of online peer-to-peer teaching, to renew distance learning where the protagonists are the pupils.

In Volissos School, in Greece, parents have been involved in GREEN S.E.E.D.S. during a briefing, to make adults aware of and involved in a project that opens up horizons of knowledge and educational opportunities. Cooperation with families is indeed a fundamental factor in the educational success of pupils. It is also a support for parents in their demanding educational role, as well as an opportunity for empowerment and personal growth.
