CLOSING OF THE “TOOLKIT GREEN S.E.E.D.S.”: ALL TOGETHER ONLINE

At the end of the first year of work, in Auguste concluded the first Intellectual Output of GREEN S.E.E.D.S., the toolkit in five modules on which the responsible for the training had been trained in March as well as almost 60 local teachers, from April to June, in the partner Countries.

The training, held online for the Covid-19 emergency, has been very participated and comments and considerations emerged. For this reason,we decided not to limit to the Partners’ managers the closing meeting of the Intellectual Output, but to involve the teachers, together with experts and operators interested in the project's topics, also taking into account the debate on distance learning emerged from theCovidcrisis.

The meeting was held on Zoom on July 13 and broadcasted live on the Fb page. Donatella Nucci, Head of eTwinning National Suport Service for the national Agency INDIRE and Giusy Cannella, researcher of the "Small Schools" project, also participated.

THE CURRICULUM IS ONLINE

The “Toolkit GREEN S.E.E.D.S.” is now online on the project website and on the eTwinning platform: 15 training units, divided into five thematic modules on: motivation and sense of belonging of teachers and pupils; teaching methodologies; management, planning, problem solving; acquisition of relational and communication skills; digital content and acquisition of technological skills for distance learning and the use of European platforms. It is an exhaustive curriculum of all aspects involving teaching and organization and, for this particular feature, decidedly innovative.

DISTANCE  TEACHING IN GREEN S.E.E.D.S.: SHARED TEACHING AND EXTENDED LEARNING ON A TRANSNATIONAL SCALE

At GREEN S.E.E.D.S., teaching and learning from remote is not a consequence of the Covid-19 emergency. They are the very heart of the project, which was conceived and started well before the health crisis, because for small decentralized schools distance learning has always been conceived as a necessity.

The lock-down restrictions have also conveyed online the appointments that should have taken place in presence, in particular the responsible’straining and that of the teachers, which had been planned in blended-learning mode.

The second part of the project - which will last two years - provides for remote dialogue, too: the pupils in the Partner Countries, during the realization of the units on environment, using the WebQuest method, will interact from remote, so that the final works will be a truly shared and collective one. The same units will be presented by their own authors – once again from remote - to pupils in other schools, from the town or more "central".

Distance learning thus becomes a valuable ally of teaching in presence, allowing experiences otherwise impossible. In our case, connecting pupils who live geographically distant, it allows an experience of shared didactic in a transnational learning environment. It will be a replicable experience, able to enhance and enrich school programmes not only in small decentralized schools, but in all schools, enabling their relation with the world.

GREEN S.E.E.D.S. SECOND TRANSNATIONAL PROJECT MEETING: THIS TIME AT A DISTANCE

We hoped till the end to meet again in person, and it should have been in Vigo. We didn't succeed, as all our Countries - and Spain more than ever before - are still crossed by pandemic.

So, we will open our computers once again and –on the next 25th and 26th - we will greet each other from the Zoom windows. It will be a two days meeting of intense work, during which we will set up next year steps, when teachers will work in the classrooms with their pupils. It will be a year still full of uncertainties and we are afraid it will stay that way for a long time. We will try our best, as usual.

In the meantime, two images of our meeting in Verona, last year at this time...
