Hello and welcome to July's Newsletter. There's some important information below so please read carefully...

  • ADVANCE session on Wednesday 22nd July is open to standing order members only. This will be an opportunity to see a TV show being filmed. The address for this session is: Antenna, 9A Beck Street Nottingham NG1 1EQ.

AW has a new home...
After four years workshopping at the College Street Centre, the time has come to move on to pastures new and we are very excited to be partnering up with The Nottingham Writers Studio, where we will be running all our future workshops! There's two floors, a kitchen, a stage and lots of fantastic opportunities to be involved with Nottingham's hub for creative writers. The Nottingham Writers Studio has free street parking after 8pm and before 8pm street parking is only £1 (After 6pm). There's also various car parks nearby in case you are spending the day in town. Those of you taking public transport will find it's pretty convenient for buses and trains.

Please note that from the 1st of August all Workshops will be held at The Nottingham Writers Studio unless notified otherwise!

The address is:
The Nottingham Writers Studio, 25 Hockley, Nottingham NG1 1FH. Behind the Ice Stadium and opposite Bunkershill pub (and very conveniently so!).

Brendan McNamara
Last weekend workshoppers new and old enjoyed invaluable insight from London based casting director Brendan McNamara (Beach Casting). Attendees performed specially selected scripts by Brendan, received critical feedback and also got the chance to hear casting pearls of wisdom directly from the industry insider, previously an assistant at Hubbard Casting, one of the worlds most well known casting family's who've worked on the likes of The Bourne Supremacy and King Kong.

Brendan said "The standard at the Actors Workshop is fantastic, I'm really impressed!".

White Post Farm
Actors were selected from the AW Member Page to feature in a brilliantly fun commercial for White Post Farm, a family farm experience full of fun activities, exotic animals and interactivity. The cast were even granted access to the - usually off limits - Meerkat sanctuary and got to hand feed the inquisitive little animals. The commercial will be played on Notts TV (Sky, Virgin and Freeview).

Sketch Up - Sarah Hughes Master Class
The cast of The Actors Workshop Showcase 2015 - Sketch Up also got the chance to perform to a professional this week. Sarah Hughes, (casting director for Alan Ayckbourn, BBC and ITV) came to watch the rehearsal process and helped guide the performers with some brilliant feedback. It's the second time Sarah has been to The Actors Workshop and we feel lucky to have her support. She is astute, honest, incredibly knowledgeable and The Sketch Up cast can only benefit from her vast professional experience. Sarah said 'I always have such a good time working with you! And I thought the scenes and actors were really interesting and good'.

A Bag of Money
"Four work friends dig up a bag of money but their value for the riches supersedes their value for one another, as they venture into the abyss of the dark, cold and wet mile long tunnel."
