Calvary Connections

During the Tuesdays of Lent, Calvary Baptist Church will host a series of Lenten Luncheon Services in our Fellowship Hall. The food line opens at 11:45 and the program will begin at 12:20. Each program will focus on one of the Seven Last Words of Christ. Invite a friend (or friends) and join us for these luncheon services during Lent.

Ash Wednesday Service

February 13, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.


Ash Wednesday signifies the beginning of Lent, the 40-day period before Easter.  The season of Lent is intended to be our time of preparation for Easter.  Come worship with us in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30PM on February 13th, as we symbolically begin our Lenten journey together and learn to use the season of Lent to prepare our lives for the celebration of Easter.  You won’t want to miss this special time of worship .

Children’s Choir & Mission will combine that night to take valentines to the residents of Country Place Nursing Home and sing for them.  We will take the buses as well as cars.

 West Liberty Rebuild
Interest Meeting
February 10th at 9:30am

We will be working with Habitat for Humanity, February 28-March 2, to help rebuild a home destroyed by last years tornado.  The cost for the trip is $50.  If you are interested in helping with the rebuild, please plan to attend the meeting this Sunday in the Gym.
Columbus, OH Mission Trip
Interest Meeting
February 17th at 9:30am

Calvary will be traveling to Columbus, OH July 7-July 12, to work with Metro Columbus Missions.  There will be multiple opportunities for all age levels at Calvary to see where God is working and be a part of the work.  The cost of the trip is $500.  If you are interested in being a part of this church-wide mission trip, please plan to attend this meeting in the Gym or contact Brian Varble for more information.
We are called to GO!  Please pray that Calvary will be faithful to serve in our community, state, nation and world.  Come and see where God is leading.

Dr. Lydia Hoyle will be our guest preacher on Sunday, February 24th as our church participates in the Martha Stearns Marshall Month of Preaching. Baptist Women in Ministry sponsors the annual Martha Stearns Marshall Month of Preaching and encourages Baptist churches to invite a woman into their pulpit to preach in the month of February. Dr. Hoyle is Associate Professor of Church History and Baptist Heritage at Campbell University Divinity School in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Prior to teaching at Campbell, Lydia was a religion professor at Georgetown College.

Lydia and her husband, Dr. Rick Hoyle who is a Professor of Social Psychology at Duke University, are former members of Calvary and were instrumental in establishing and teaching a young couple’s Sunday School class during their years as active Calvary members. The Hoyles are the parents of three children: Matthew, Michael, and Jessica. We look forward to welcoming Lydia and Rick back home  as Lydia preaches for us on February 24th!
