A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Ravenswood Families and Friends,
It's that time of year again, everyone! Mark your calendars, sexual health education is kicking off with our annual parent meeting on Tuesday April 17th at 6pm in Room 104.
A Bit About Sex Ed at Ravenswood
Sexual health education in CPS is taught by certified sexual health teachers on staff.
We follow the CPS comprehensive sexual health curriculum that is medically accurate and age appropriate.
Sexual health education is taught to all students Kindergarten-8th Grade (not PreK). From K–4th grade there are 300 minutes per year of instruction, and from 5th–12th grade there are 675 minutes.
It is super important to note that we (and CPS) view parents/guardians as the primary educators for their children around sexual health. The curriculum is located here for parents/guardians to review at any point. With that, it is your right as parents/guardians to opt out your child(ren) of any/all of the lessons. We just ask that you provide us notification in writing.
Lessons will not begin until the first week in May. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.
Have a great week, everyone.
Mr. Manaen (Principal) and
Mrs. Welsh (Assistant Principal)
