A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Greetings Ravenswood Families and Friends,
It's hard to believe the end of the school year is almost upon us! As we wind down, we want to take a minute to thank you again for entrusting us with your child's education. We feel fortunate be part of such an incredible community and thank you for your partnership as we work to give your children the best academics and social learning we can provide.
This past week I (Nate) had the pleasure of serving as a chaperone on our annual 8th Grade Washington DC Trip. Over the course of three and a half days, we took in many sites and experiences, including visits to the Smithsonian National African American History Museum, the Holocaust Museum, the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the FDR memorial, a Nationals game, Arlington National Cemetary and the National Mall Museums. It was a powerful educational experience as well as an excellent way to cap off our 8th graders' experience at Ravenswood. I'm pleased to see this has become an annual tradition and hope it continues well into the future as experiences like these are critical to our academic program!
Please see below for critical updates in the final week and a half, including our first ever Ravensfest Block Party, our Open Day of Inquiry and our first ever Ramapalooza!
Have a great week, everyone.
Thank you all,
Mr. Manaen (Principal) and
Mrs. Welsh (Assistant Principal)

MORE ABOUT NEXT WEEK
Ramapalooza: A Year End Extravaganza!
When: Monday, June 18th
Much like Field Day, students and their teachers will have designated times to visit the Ramapalooza festivities outside. We will have lots of fun stations, food, games and treats for the students and their families to enjoy. This is a fun, unstructured way to enjoy each other's company, celebrate all of our hard work this school year and kick off the summer season. Families are welcome to attend if they choose, but are not needed as volunteers.
The schedule by grade is outlined below:
SUMMER AND NEXT SCHOOL YEAR
Wednesday Summer Playdates
When: Wednesdays from July 11th to August 15th 4-6pm
Where: School Playground
FORS will provide popsicles, bubbles, chalk and water fun for the first and last playdate. For the four Wednesdays in between, please feel free to bring your own supplies to share with friends!
The Ram Riders Bike Riding Clinics will also be joining the fun. Ravenswood Parent volunteers will provide free bike riding lessons to kids during Wednesday Summer Playdates.
In-Boundary Registration is OPEN!
Please help us spread the word that in-boundary families can stop by anytime between 8:30-4pm M-F to pick up/drop off registration packets. We encourage new in-boundary families to register ASAP to help us more accurately plan for next school year.
Use Yubbler to buy School Supplies!
Ravenswood will be using Yubbler again this year to offer parents an online option for school supplies. As an added bonus, Yubbler will donate 50% of its profits back to Friends of Ravenswood School. Grade Level School Supply Lists will be ready in early July. We will share the link via summer newsletters and social media. You will also be able to see grade level supply lists on the school website if you prefer the hustle and bustle of school supply shopping in person.
Help Make Our Little Corner of the World Shine!
The corner mosaic project has taken 4 years and thousands of hours from volunteers of all ages. We are now in the final hours of the project. We estimate 20 hours of volunteer time will be needed on Monday and possibly Tuesday. Whether you have one hour or five, we would really appreciate any time you can give. You will be helping making the mosaic shine. Wear old clothes you do not mind getting dirty. Please sign up here.
