A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Dear Ravenswood Families and Friends,
Happy Mother's Day to all of our fabulous Ravenswood moms. We hope you enjoyed a wonderful day Sunday!
MAP testing begins this week and runs through the end of May. You can click here for each grade level's schedule. The test covers a session for reading and a session for math and typically takes 60 minutes per session. That said, we schedule two days for each of the two sessions so that no student feels rushed. Students will either take the test in the computer lab (2nd and 3rd) or in their classrooms on chromebooks (4th-8th).
Student MAP scores are used for four different purposes: 1) grade promotion in 3rd, 6th and 8th grade (students most score above the 24th percentile); 2) high school options in 7th grade; all scores in 2nd-8th are used in part to determine Ravenswood's school rating; and 3) as an instructional tool for teachers and students to cross-validate classroom assessments and to determine areas of academic strength and growth for students.
At Ravenswood we work to create an anxiety-free environment around tests while still encouraging and expecting every student to do their best on every academic task they face. Please ensure your child is arriving on time each day and getting a good night's rest. If you have any questions please contact your child's teacher.
Have a great week, everyone.
Mr. Manaen (Principal) and
Mrs. Welsh (Assistant Principal)

Field Day is a day when every Ravenswood student participates in age-appropriate outdoor track-and-field-style competitions with their classmates. It’s big fun for the whole school, and the all-time favorite day of the year for many students.
Mr. Switzer needs volunteer timers, ribbon-writers and judges to help with the events for 5-8th grade in the morning and 1st-4th grade in the afternoon. Pre-K and K will have field day as well, but our recess staff will run the events. All volunteers can report to Mr. Switzer on the South Playground. Sign up to volunteer here.
Even if you can't volunteer, spectators are welcome to cheer on the students at this fun school wide event. Please note that if Field Day gets rained out, it will be postponed until Tuesday, May 29.
