A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Greetings Ravenswood Families and Friends,
It has been noted that Soccer (Football as referred to in other countries around the world) is the universal language, the most popular sport in the world and a unifier across boundaries. As the soccer fans around the world prepare to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, we are bringing our own tourney to our field at Ravenswood.
Soccer is one of our most popular sports amongst students at Ravenswood. Coach Ramos and Ms. Karrel, in partnership with Urban Initiatives and We All Live Here have spearheaded an event you won't want to miss! Join us on Friday June 8th to cheer on the teams, and enjoy an opening ceremony where students will share their poetry focused on inclusivity at Ravenswood. The event will take place on the south playground from 4:30-7pm.
On another note, we as we prepare for the start of the school year we want to remind you that we do not accept parent requests for teacher assignments. Please know that we do collaborate with teachers at length to analyze student need to determine best fit for class assignments. We will share class assignments in August this year once the majority of enrollment is finalized.
HELP WANTED: We are working on an in-house project and are in need of fifty 8x10 black picture frames. If you would like to donate frames or have any that you are looking to get rid of please bring them to the main office. Your generosity is much appreciated!
Lastly, Mr. Manaen is accompanying the 8th graders on their trip to DC this week. Please reach out to Mrs. Welsh and Ms. Karrel for administrative assistance if needed.
Thank you all,
Thank you all,
Mr. Manaen (Principal) and
Mrs. Welsh (Assistant Principal)

8th Graders are Off to D.C.
The eighth-graders are heading to Washington, D.C. for their class trip! The D.C. trip will show our students how people from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs are all part of the United States. The students will visit the U.S. Museums and National Landmarks. It's a culmination of our students' history, art, social studies, and language arts classes.
For many of our eighth-graders, this will be their first trip outside of Chicago. The students and their families have worked hard all year to raise funds for this trip. Many thanks to all who helped make this trip a reality.
