"Calumet in Dub" consists of an 8-channel speaker installation resulting from Norman W. Long’s research-based work delving into the ecology and soundscapes of the Southeast Side of Chicago along the Calumet and Little Calumet River area. Long has investigated how housing, labor, and environmental activism have coalesced in this location. The population demographics, ecological information, pollution statistics as well as direct field recordings from the Calumet region provide the raw data that Long utilizes to create sonic experiences.
