Oren's update: July 2016

Dear friends,
This is my updated performance schedule for July, 2016. Please check the web site for updates and additional dates: http://www.ohljazz.com.

I look forward to seeing you at one or more of these events.

Sun 10 6:30 pm

DC Jazz Jam at The Brixton

Joining the second Sunday house band for another exciting jam session at The Brixton, featuring saxophonist Antonio Parker as our guest master artist. As always, there's no cover charge for the music, and all players are welcome to join in and jam.

Sat 16, 9:00 pm

Lucky So & Sos at Sehkraft Brewing

Joining The Lucky So & Sos for an evening of high energy tropical jazz and hip hop. Also on the bill, Mary-eL, a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Virginia by way of Indianapolis who’s injecting edgy rock and soul into the DMV music scene.

Wed 20, 7:00 pm

Trio with Barbara Papendorp

Vocalist and actress Barbara Papendorp sings standards from the American and French songbooks plus my original songs. I'm at the piano, alongside David Bamber on bass. No cover charge.

Fri 22, 8:00 pm

Aaron Myers at Mr. Henry's

Cooling off the summer heat with Aaron and the band, presenting another exciting evening of songs, stories, and surprises. No cover charge, reservations strongly recommended.
Here's a live recording of my latest original song "When The Morning Comes" from our last show at Mr. Henry's on May 28. That's Barbara Papendorp singing, with solos by Lionel Lyles (tenor sax) and David Bamber (bass). Winston Johnson rounds out the group on drums.
My longtime musical partner Aaron Myers is spearheading the DC Jazz Lobby, which I encourage you to follow. I support their efforts to engage local government to provide incentives to support live music and local musicians.
Here's Aaron performing my tribute to etiquette on the Washington, DC Metro system, which was featured on NPR last year.
