A Prayer for the New Year

In my Methodist tradition, we have a prayer that we *typically* pray for the new year. It's called the Wesleyan Covenant Prayer. John Wesley adapted this prayer from the Puritan tradition that was so important to his parents. It informed his theology and preaching. He expected the people called "Methodists" to pray this prayer at the beginning of each new year as a way of remembering and renewing their baptismal covenant.

While we aren't Methodist, I think the prayer is still a pretty great way to get "prayed up" for the new year. Maybe this prayer will help center you for 2022.

In Christ,
Pastor Derek

2022 Faith Promise Update

As of December 21 we have received 182 Faith Promises for a total amount of $460,162.  Many of you have increased your Faith Promise amount over last year and thank you for your generous response.  We are still short of our target of 225 Faith Promises and $525,000.  Follow up contacts have been and are being made.  There are still quite a few of you we have not heard from yet.

Your response is vitally important to our ability to fund ministry and missions at The Church in Aurora.  Please send in your Faith Promise card or make a Faith Promise online today.

Service Sunday

JANUARY 23, FOLLOWING 10AM WORSHIP

We are planning an exciting new event, Service Sunday, on January 23.  What does this mean?  We will have one worship service that day at 10:00am.  Immediately following, all are invited to take part in a service activity constructing “kits” for the homeless.  We will need volunteers of all ages and activity levels to help pack necessity kits that can be distributed to our brothers and sisters who have fallen on hard times.  Once we finish assembling our kits that day, the Fellowship Committee will host a luncheon to enjoy together.

What can you do?  Drop off supplies (see list below) that we will need to complete our kits. Feel free to drop supplies in the plastic bin outside of the glass doors of the church.  Please plan to join us for a morning of fellowship and service on January 23.

Contact Liz Sutter with any questions.
