Advent Series

Join us as we begin a new sermon series for Advent. For many, Advent is the invitation to get into that Christmas spirit, to count down the days to the grand celebration, and let the holiday transform everything around us. This Advent season we're focusing on the true spirit of Christmas, the Mass of Christ, the celebration of the Incarnate one who comes to remind us that we are not alone, and God is with us. The invitation this Advent season to each of us and the world is to “Come Home for Christmas.”

This week, Pastor Derek will invite us to consider those for whom "home" is not a positive image. We will explore themes of reconciliation and peace. We hope you'll join us for worship - whether in-person or online.

Advent Devotionals
Advent devotionals can be found on the side table in the Great Hall. Pick yours up this Sunday or during the week.

57th Annual Vespers

DECEMBER 19, 2021 at 5PM
After losing a year of Vespers to COVID-19 cancellations in 2020, we are excited to be bringing it back in 2021. While this year's Vespers' service will be abbreviated, we can still expect to hear quality Christmas music from our chancel choir, adult handbell choir, and our children's choir.

We hope you'll join us December 19 at 5pm for evening of beautiful music and fellowship.

2022 Faith Promise Update

As of November 21, we've received 143 Faith Promises totaling $348,137 and more than half of those pledges represent increases from 2021 or first time pledges.  The total amount of the increase is more than $68,000.  That increase is offset by significant loss of current and future giving. During 2021 several of our top givers have gone home to be with the Lord or have moved out of the area!

If you want to make a faith promise but did not receive the card and letter, please let me know.  You can also create your faith promise online (see information below) or I can do that for you.  It is very important that you respond as we are currently developing the 2022 budget.  If we don't see significant response during the next four weeks, we may have to make some painful spending decisions.  I also ask you to review your 2021 Faith Promise to ensure that you meet or exceed that promise by the end of December.

Our target for 2022 is 225 Faith Promises totaling $525,000. After Thanksgiving, I will make follow up contacts to those who have not responded unless you have indicated you do not want to be contacted.  Please contact me at or 216-219-3729 if you have any questions or need help.  God bless you all!

The Caring Tree

The Caring Tree—a Church in Aurora Tradition (with two ways to participate in one beautiful act of love!)

The Caring Tree once again will grace Fellowship Hall donned with opportunities to share the Joy of Christmas. Additionally, a second method—signing up directly on line—will be available this year as well.

Sign up on Sundays, November 28 and December 5 in Fellowship Hall. Simply choose one (or more!) paper ornament from the tree and have it recorded by a member of the Missions Committee at a nearby table.

The process is completely confidential.  Information on the ornament will include gender, age and some gift ideas and clothing size.  You may choose to purchase any or all of the ideas, but please stay within the suggested total expenditure range of $50—$75 for each recipient.

Please do NOT wrap gifts!  They can be placed in a gift bag with the paper ornament securely fastened to the bag.  Bags should be dropped off in Fellowship Hall no later than noon on December 12.

Alternatively, if you would like to sign up on line, simply click on the link provided and follow the directions.

Caring Tree—Caring Congregation.  Thank you for making Christmas memorable for so many!

Activities begin promptly at 5pm with a family dinner to follow at 6pm in Fellowship Hall.

Registration is required.  Admission is free.  Can’t wait to celebrate a Messy Christmas with you! Because of Covid precautions, we are limiting participation to 75 people.
