Good morning,

Well, as always, I can’t quite believe it is nearly Christmas. I was only talking to some of the Carers SA team at Wayville recently saying that the days where there was a slowdown leading up to Christmas are well and truly gone. This is for good reason for us here at Carers SA because I know that our staff around the state are continuing to support carers as and when they need it.

We are currently putting the final touches to our submissions to the Federal Government regarding their new Integrated Carer Support Service System draft model. Our focus in our response is to ensure carers get the best service possible, especially those in the regional and remote areas where we provide services. Don’t worry we will keep pushing to ensure that we get the best for carers at both the Federal and State Government levels.

I would to thank all of our staff, volunteers and network of friends for their continued support of carers and Carers SA throughout 2016, they do a wonderful job. Finally I would like to acknowledge our recently retired CEO, Rosemary Warmington, and recognise her commitment and passion for carers over a 23 year period. Congratulations Rosemary!

On behalf of everyone here at Carers SA, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2017!

David Militz, Interim CEO

Call for Abstracts: 7th International Carers Conference 2017, Adelaide

Closes: Friday, 10 February 2017

We are very excited here at Carers SA that the 7th International Carers Conference: Caring into the Future: the new world? will be held here in our home town at the Adelaide Convention centre on the 4th –6th October 2017. The conference aims to re-imagine caring into the future, providing a catalyst for innovation and collaboration; sharing improvements in the way to support unpaid carers, care-recipients, their families, networks and communities.

The 7th International Carers Conference will bring together key stakeholders across a broad range of community and business sectors: policy-makers, community leaders, business leaders, researchers, grassroots advocates, practitioners, consumers and carers. Delegates will come from across Australia, across the Asia Pacific region and across the globe, along with national and international high-profile speakers; to engage in a meeting of minds. There are four thematic streams: innovation; partnerships; challenges; and new opportunities.

You can find out more about the submission process. This international event will focus on innovation, partnerships, future challenges and new opportunities. A stimulating program is being developed with challenging debates, thought-provoking presentations, interactive workshops and new exhibition zones to inspire, inform and drive forward sector collaboration. You can find out more here.

Let's be friends!
