Monmouth & Ocean Cornellians,
You can help local Cornell students... here's how
Each year the Cornell Club of Monmouth & Ocean Counties awards a $1,500 scholarship to a Cornell student from our area who is entering his/her senior year. Our criteria are simple: the student has large self help need, and despite of this burden, has done well academically in their first three years. The award lowers their senior year loan.
We have made this scholarship award for over 20 years to an energetic, highly motivated, and diverse group of students from our area. They have been extremely appreciative of the award, especially since it comes directly from local Cornellians. Some samples from their thank you notes convey our impact:
"The scholarship helps ease the burden on my family after all the sacrifices my mother has made for both my brother and me"
"I grew up in a family where money was always tight... your award helps me afford Cornell which has given me a shot at upward mobility"
"One day I hope to pay it forward and help support future students the way you have supported me"
We raise money from two sources:
- Raffles at each of our twice a year speaker events
- Individual donations (your donations are tax deductible, qualify for gift matching if you have it)
Please consider supporting us with a donation of any size -- it all counts. We were able to make two awards this year, and we'd like to be able to do that every year!
It is easy -- just click here
