At last! The sun is shining today and the air is a bit warmer!

Clearing of the land and preparing the soil for planting is beginning. At our March meeting of BNA, the following information was requested to be passed along to you, our members. Thank you for your support in the past, and please extend an invitation to a neighbor or relative to join us as we beautify our “City of Trees”.
  • Cantastic – On March 30, an interested group of members met to discuss this concrete waste can painting project. Chair, Bridget Vogt has acquired a grant to help fund this project, but donations and volunteers are still needed for it to become a reality. Interested in helping, with money or talent? Call or e-mail Bridget at 859-322-6392 or blyndvogt@gmail.com.
  • Community Garden – Tilling and preparing the garden are underway. To help, and enjoy some of the fruits of your labor, garden workers meet on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Cinder blocks are needed to edge the garden. They may be dropped off there or, again, Bridget is the contact person for this project.
  • Garden Team – will meet on Wednesday, April 22 – 6:30 p.m. at Callahan Center to discuss spring and summer plantings for the city and the parks. Bellevue Beach Park will need substantial repair due to the flooding of the river. All members are welcome! Diane Witte will convene the meeting. Garden team members have already cleared the planters in the city and re-planted with Spring pansies. A big thank you to them! See attached letter regarding a new endeavor by this group, collaborating with Renaissance (Bellevue merchants) to provide lovely summer hanging baskets on Fairfield Avenue. The combined effort of BNA and Renaissance is greatly appreciated.
  • Adopt-A-Block – Please check out this community assistance project on BNA’s web site for complete information regarding the block that has been chosen, completion of work on Division Street from last year, and clear policies on how to apply to BNA for assistance. www.bna-ky.com
  • Membership DRIVE – May 1 – cocktail party pick-up of packets from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at the Hagner’s. 10 Observatory Ave – need 18 people to deliver, or May 2 – coffee and donuts, same address, starting at 9:00 a.m. Route assignment, map and bulk invitations will be handed out. Deliveries are to be made Saturday, May 2, or within the week. Routes take an hour or two to complete. Please RSVP to help deliver and party May 1, 2, or both! mphagner@fuse.net or 859-491-5437. Thanks so much for helping us expand our membership and continue to support the beautification of Bellevue.
