Yes, we cancelled our meeting on the 15th. You also may have noticed that the weather was not really that bad. Just remember, people drive to Salem from all over Oregon for our Annual Meeting. The forecast was for some very serious weather, and we didn't want anyone to get hurt on the way home from our event. We hope you can come on this new date, because it really doesn't happen without you!

Native Nations' Rising!

Native Nations' Rising!
Melissa Bennett (Umatilla/Nez Perce/Sac & Fox) brings her own spiritual and activist spirit to help us understand the new and old currents of  Native American life. Native people and white environmentalists are often now supporting each other in our joint struggles against new fossil fuel infrastructure.
  • How can we work together with respect and love,
  • what is our shared history,
  • what is our new Unitarian Universalist role?
Melissa Bennett is a writer and storyteller. She has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize in poetry and is interested in story as medicine, especially its ability to heal historical trauma among indigenous communities.

Still time to do a Proposal!

If you deeply care about an issue, consider making a proposal and bringing it to the Annual Meeting.

What the heck is a proposal?

A proposal is what you fill out if you have an issue you want to work on with other Oregon UU's. Oregon UU Voices for Justice will support four Campaign Teams in the coming year. The four campaigns are Environmental JusticeIncome Inequality, Deepening Democracy and Human Rights. At the Annual Meeting on October 29th in Salem we will divide into campaign groups and they will decide which issues will have priority within each campaign.
A proposal about your issue is the best way to make sure your issue is fully considered. if you want to create a proposal, go to the front page of our website and scroll to the bottom for the links.
