Women's March January 21
The Mt Hood Cluster of Congregations (the 11 congregations in and near the Portland/Vancouver area) invites you to join them at the Women's March in Portland.
Here is info on the Portland Women's March:
This will be a family-friendly, non-violent, peaceful march focusing on women's rights. Currently the Portland March attendance numbers around 20,000 or more people.
WHAT: Women’s March on Portland
WHEN: Saturday, January 21
Rally: 2 SW Naito Pkwy (Tom McCall Waterfront Park/Saturday Market)
March: Waterfront Loop (Eastside/Steel Bridge/Hawthorne Bridge)
TIME: 11:00 Music (tentative)
12:00 Welcome and invite
12:20 March begins
1:30 Rally begins
The Route will start at the Saturday Market location, under the Burnside Bridge, go north to the Steel Bridge, cross that bridge, turn right along the bank and march to the Hawthorne Bridge, cross that bridge, then the rally will be under/near the Morrison Street bridge. Some people might want only to come to the march or just to the rally.
The organizers of the event will distribute information about where people can join the route if they do not want to gather at the starting place. Also, they will be stressing that taking public transportation makes sense.
Members of the choirs at Portland First Church are preparing to lead marchers in singing while marching.
Meet Up Location
The exact location for Unitarian Universalists to meet up to march together will be posted on Oregon UU Voices for Justice Facebook page closer to the March day. Banner's encouraged.
John Riles from West Hills UU Fellowship is the local UU organizer. He offers his contact information for questions Johnrr44@gmail.com
