Big Lottery
Fund Awarded

We are pleased to announce that Teen Talk have been awarded a grant of £315,000 from The Big Lottery Fund to continue to provide its drop-in service supporting young people aged 11-25 in Tendring. The grant is part funding for the next 3 years and will contribute towards providing a range of services at Teen Talk including one-to-one and family support to help young people across Tendring find strategies to manage the difficulties they face.

Teen Talk Receive People's Heath Trust Fund
A further £15,000 has also been received from the Active Communities fund of The People's Health Trust to provide activities including workshops, coffee mornings and events for young people and their families to learn new skills, increase confidence, reduce social exclusions and improve relationships.

There's Lots More To Do
Both these funds will enable Teen Talk to continue to provide a service which is in high demand but we still have lots more work to do to fully secure the project in the coming coming years. If you would like to make a donation please click here.

Harwich Helpers

Every Tuesday
10.00am-12.00pm
at Teen Talk

Our family forum, Harwich Helpers, is going from strength to strength. The group holds an informal coffee morning every Tuesday with the aim to support parents and young people with difficulties around behavioral issues, providing a sociable link and possible guidance towards awareness of symptoms and routes to diagnosis. We welcome parents and carers in term time and in the holidays provide family fun mornings where young people and siblings can take part in fun and creative workshops. In the coming weeks and months there will be family activities and guest speakers as well as a chance to just relax. Come along or call on 01255 504800 to find out more.

HIYA
Events

With help from Harwich Helpers, HIYA's Big Lunch event on 02 June at the Vibe Youth Centre was a great success, bringing the community together for an afternoon of food and games. HIYA have also been busy bee's helping to plant wildflowers with Harwich Peninsular Friends of the Earth to create habitat for the declining bee population.

More events are to come including the HIYA Sleepover at the Redoubt Fort, raising awareness of homelessness and funds for Teen Talk. Please help HIYA reach their target of £500 by donating at localgiving.com/hiyasleepover.

Over the weeks we have had some fantastic dishes cooked up by the young people taking part in the cookery workshop but it's now time for the workshops to come to an end for the summer. The next workshops will be starting up in September so get in touch to make sure your place is booked but if you can't wait that long...

It's time to get growing!
During the summer holidays we will be taking on a gardening project that will allow young people to grow their own food for the cookery workshops. We will be working with the Princes Trust and the Rotary Club of Harwich and Dovercourt to install raised beds in our garden for lots of delicious veg and herbs to grow in. Get in touch to get stuck in.

Thank You

We would like to send our thanks to the Harwich School Students for the generous donation made following their Hair Show in May. Our thanks also go to all involved in the Film, Food and Fun fundraising event at the Electric Palace in May. Thanks to Fern, Georgia, Carly and Gary, a group of young people who successfully completed the 60 mile Tour de Tendring to raise funds for Teen Talk. And thanks to all our volunteers for their continued support and hard work.
