Teen Talk
£115k Grant

Teen Talk have received £115,000 worth of funding to continue to operate its drop-in service supporting young people aged 11-25 in Tendring. The grant has been awarded by the Henry Smith Charity fund, which is managed by Essex Community Foundation. Over the next 3 years this grant will contribute towards providing a range of services at Teen Talk including one-to-one support, family support, counselling, and a youth forum, all of which support young people across Tendring to find strategies to manage the difficulties they face.

FREE Cookery Workshops

Starting 25th April 2013
at Teen Talk

Teen Talk will be teaming up with the Rotary Club of Harwich & Dovercourt to deliver FREE weekly cookery workshops to young people aged 16-25years in Harwich. These workshops will give you the chance to learn new and simple cookery skills to make healthy meals at home. The workshops will run every Thursday from 25th April - 13th June, 2.00-4.00pm in our purpose built kitchen. Call Teen Talk on 01255 504800 or drop in to our centre at 17 Cliff Road  to book your place.

Harwich Helpers

Teen Talk's Harwich Helpers are a developing group unlike any other in the area who hold coffee mornings every Tuesday between 10.00am-12.00pm at Teen Talk. Teen Talk have received a grant from Awards for All for this group. Harwich Helpers aim to support parents and young people with difficulties around behavioral issues, providing a sociable link and possible guidance towards awareness of symptoms and routes to diagnosis. During the school holidays family activity mornings will be held and in term time parents and carers have the chance to meet new people, listen to speakers and learn about different opportunities in the area. Call 01255 504800 for more infomation.

Big Plans

Our youth forum, Harwich Inspired Youth Action, have big plans for 2013! The 3rd annual Harwich Hoody Fest on 9th November, an event at the Redoubt Fort and more are already in the making. Keep an eye on their facebook and twitter pages for updates and get in touch on 01255 504800 if you would like to be involved. The groups funding raising activities have already gotten off to a great start with a Stall at the Dovercourt Central Church Jumble sale on 16th March, where they raised more than £35 selling cakes and crafts. Well done HIYA!

'They helped me take pressure off of home and school work.'

'Teen Talk helped me be more confident around new people.'

2013 & Beyond

The past year has seen great success at Teen Talk where our drop in, health shops, counselling, workshops and youth forum continue to see almost 1000 young people and their families. However, we've also experienced some difficulties in recent months with changes in funding placing additional pressures on our services. Although this has been a tough time for us we're pleased to say that our position has greatly improved. We look forward to continuing to support our local community and hope that our local community will continue to support Teen Talk.
