Welcome to the latest issue of Your Community, Your Planet! We hope that this issue is a perfect compliment to this typical Scottish summer that we are having!! Read on to find out more!

Our projects and services...

Tell us your views and you could win a bike: the Find A Solution students are currently undertaking a short survey - please take a few minutes to share your views and you could win a refurbished bike from De'ils on Wheels! Deadline Friday 26 July!

De'ils On Wheels: the workshop is still closed due to the ongoing refurbishment works - hope to be back open in the next week or so. A big thanks to Glasgow Housing Association, Clydeside Tenant Partnership and City Building!

Clyde Tunnel 50th anniversary: in early July we were invited to participate in the Clyde Tunnel's 50th anniversary celebrations where we had the opportunity for a Royal encounter!

Kingsway Community Garden in full bloom: the community garden at Kingsway Court is looking great with all this fantastic weather.

Northinch Street planters: recently we popped down to Whiteinch to tidy up the planters that we had helped HoldYour Breath install last year to give the site a well needed make over with help from the Xchange Scotland volunteers.

Glasgow West Community Green Map: the Xchange Scotland volunteers from LINKES have been adding sites to the map - check it out online or on your mobile!

Other news...

Partick Housing job opportunity: there is a community development officer job opportunity over at Partick Housing Association - closing date 5 August.

Carrier bag levy: By 2014 Scottish retailers will charge a minimum of 5p per bag in a bid to reduce carrier bag use and proceeds from carrier bag charges to go to good causes.

National litter strategy: the Scottish Government are currently undertaking a consultation on a strategy to tackle and prevent litter and flytipping called Towards a Litter-Free Scotland, which is Scotland's first national litter strategy since devolution.

Dog fouling campaign: this is an issue which plights many communities in the local area so Keep Scotland Beautiful will be focusing on the issue of dog fouling across Scotland for two weeks from 30 September until 13 October 2013 as part of the Clean Up Scotland campaign.

Future City / Glasgow website launched: Future City / Glasgow is an ambitious £24million programme which will demonstrate how technology can make life in the city smarter, safer and more sustainable.

ED's Cycle Coop Cycle Festival video: a great wee video of all the activities at the recent cycle festival in Bishopbriggs - be great to bring this to the west of Glasgow!

Community Council websites: both Scotstoun Community Council and Whiteinch Community Council have new websites hosted via the Council's Community Council web portal.

Anniesland College merger: as of 1 August the new Glasgow Clyde College will come into existence. The new College is the result of the merger between Anniesland, Langside and Cardonald Colleges!

New school campus consultation: the Council is undertaking a consultation on the proposed closure of Garscadden and Yoker Primary schools, Thirlstane and Kelso nurseries and building a new non-denominational primary school and nursery as part of the campus on the St Brendan's Primary school site. The public consultation will run until Friday 30 August.

Recyke-a-Bike ice cream restoration: our friends over at Recyke-a-bike in Stirling have been involved in a fantastic little restoration project that is perfect for this sunny weather!
