Our projects and services...
we will shortly be launching a volunteer recruitment drive so if your New Year's resolution was to volunteer then get in touch. We will be on the look out for an administrator, volunteers to help with our social media and marketing as well as lots of people for our Community Green Team - watch this space for more info or get in touch if you want to find out more!
Integrated Grants Fund award: funding success
we are delighted to announce we have been awarded 2 years funding by the West Community Planning Partnership from the Council's Integrated Grants Fund. The past 2 years have seen DRCET go through a period of transition but this support will provide us with the opportunity and stability to move forward and continue our towards our vision and mission. Onwards and upwards!
De'ils On Wheels update:
our bike workshop has been closed for quite a few months now but we are working hard to secure the resources to get the space back open. So we are now accepting donations of unwanted bikes
so if you have any then please donate them to us - just drop us an email or give us a call. We can also arrange uplift if needed!
Clean Up Scotland:
a new campaign
was recently launched to Clean Up Scotland - we are fully supportive of the campaign and if you would like to organise a clean up in your community then please get in touch.
Community Empowerment and Renewal Bill:
the Scottish Government has recently published the 447 responses to the CERB consultation that ran back in the Autumn. The Community Development Alliance Scotland has produced a useful summary
of things so far.
Glasgow West Community Map:
our Community Map
is now live and the response since the launch has been great. There are now over 150 sites
posted on the map and we are keen to work with more local partners to further develop the map.
Climate Week 2013:
this event will take place from 4-10 March 2013 - so get your thinking caps on as to what you can do as part of this week. We will be back in touch with details of our events! In the meantime check out the website

George Square re-development:
the Council have announced the 6 designs for George Square - check them out here
. Check out Restore George Square
's ideas and their plans for a demo to delay the re-development on Sat 2 Feb! There is also a petition
to restore the grass to George Square, which nearly 3,000 people have already signed.

Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation:
The latest SIMD, which measures seven different aspects of deprivation – Employment, Income, Health, Education, Access to Services, Crime and Housing, have been published and there is a dedicated website
to provide users with a single point of access to the publication and resources including interactive mapping to visualise the results.

the very nice people at The Fife Diet have written a great blog
about the issue of food waste and the role of the supermarkets.
: our friends over at Greener Leith and other community organisations have joined forces
with active travel campaign groups to demand that the Edinburgh City Council rethink its proposals for a multi-million pound facelift of Leith Walk and Constitution Street. This is a really interesting development and one which we can learn from for Dumbarton Road and surrounding areas.
this is a new initiative from The Whiteinch Church
which aims to reach those most in need in the local community and surrounding areas. It was also recently featured on STV Local
