This month's NTL Newsletter is to deepen you into your own investigation of who you are, deeper than what you believe about yourself.

MAY 2013

The following NTL Newsletter uses EXPLICIT words, videos and music.  If you have sensitive ears or are easily offended, you may wish to STOP here.  Read no further (though you might like to check out this link ... Belief Systems).  If you are interested in discovering what comes before all words, videos and music, you may find that this Newsletter assists in helping to remove the blocks/beliefs one has in place; that hide That.
Words have only the meaning you give to them.  It's not in the words themselves ... but the energy the words ride on; and then whether or not one accepts them as true.
Words have only the meaning you give to them (repeated purposely).  This first appeared in consciousness around age 8 years old ... driving back from New York City visiting Grandmother the word “car” appeared in front of the mind’s eye and it started to separate out C-A-R … then the word became only letters and something happened that lasted all of these days …the word CAR stopped meaning anything … it was no longer representing an automobile and turned into “nothing” (no thing at all).  All that remained is Empty Space Full of itSelf.
Then the ability arose to see that the word CAR could mean anything … it could have meant “BIRD” or "GREEN" or anything that someone names it; and others agree to call it.   In that instant all “Words” became “LIES.”  Not bad lies just not True.

This is not something that was intellectually grasped at first.  It has gradually grown, since that time, to become more and more obvious: words are not true (and usually just cause miscommunication).  True Union and Communication is not through words because you have to use the filter (definitions) of what those words mean to you, to draw the picture of what someone is sharing with you (these pictures will not match ... one does not ever really know what the other is attempting to say, it may come close, but it will not be it).  However, if the foundation is built on one of Love (which ultimately all foundations are) then words become secondary.
This deepened while spending about three years studying a book called “A Course in Miracles (ACIM).”  It actually helped in the beginning stages to see that words only had the meaning that were given to them.  At the same time, a peculiar thing happened; studying this book strengthened another word … the word “I.”
This was not obvious, at the time, because that word … the word “I” has been so ingrained as absolute that there was no doubt of the existence of an “I” and one that had to be “modified,” “brought under control,” “whipped into shape.”  The assumption that the “I” thought exists is the only error (which it is not actually an error because how can you make an error out of something that is not) and that it is not perfect and needs to be fixed is the endless path to nowhere or Now Here.  So one goes to work (or not) attempting to fix something that doesn’t actually exist (hence a great Cosmic Joke).
ACIM can help to remove many blocks to one’s Awareness, however, at the same time, the entire foundation of the Course builds up and individual “I” that is going to be saved.  The good News is that all things Serve, and now it is easy to see if you pay attention and place that attention on what the thought “I” appears IN (you do not need a book or any practice to do this).  Just "Stop" everything, right Now.  This momentary stoppage, will begin to subtly shift your Awareness from thoughts to Stillness.
Even if one checks out ACIM and goes down that path … no worries … just when you get to the height of your ego/I-Thought mania … the Teacher will arrive and chopped off your head (i.e., the “I” thought). When the student is ready the Teacher appears.
Recently, while driving back from the coast there were a couple of hitchhikers waiting for a ride, there was barely room with Marma (a chicken) and Pete (a dog), however, they were able to squeeze in and we headed down the 199 towards Medford, OR.  One of the two girls that got in had mentioned that she was always getting in trouble because of her mouth. So the assignment became one of her seeing if she could shut up for 5 minutes (she did real good and kept silent for quite some time).  She whipped out a CD of a Native American Medicine Woman Chanting.  We listened for a while, and at one point, a discussion about words arose.   One of the words that brought up a lot of discomfort (because she couldn’t stop saying it) was the word “nigger.”
Let’s take a moment to look at the word “nigger” outside of race (because, ultimately, there is no such thing as a black, white, or a yellow person … you are not a certain “race” none of us are … however, that is an entirely different conversation, one that you can look at on your own … for it is said originally humans came from Africa or part of the earth where the sun made the human body a darker color, to protect it from burning) and we have lightened up in skin color, over time, as we moved around the world to colder climates where the sun doesn't shine as much and the skin needs less protection.
In the not so distant past, the word "nigger" has been given a lot of meaning and has been linked with being black, or of color, and was considered a racial slur used by people that were white to degrade those of color and the irony is that the ones that were using the word at that time (mostly white people), actually represented what the word meant (we don’t often see the mirror or the hypocrisy that we are reflected in).  To this day it still seems to have quite a bit of juice (though less and less because it is so frequently used now by people, not in a derogatory way, but as a term of endearment); so it is as good an example as the word “I” to look at what we give meaning to and why.  If one investigates this fully … neither the word “nigger” or the word “I” won't mean anything at all and then you come from the Space behind the words (remove the blocks to knowing who you are Are).
Back to the Hitchhikers; so she couldn’t stop saying the word “nigger” and it was making her feel guilty and we began a conversation about how words don’t actually mean anything, but that the energy they are carried on can cause people to think that they do.  Like the Medicine Woman chanting on the CD, we put it back on and the conversation arose that she could be chanting the word “nigger” over and over (for all we knew) in her Native American language and we all laughed because it was true … she could have been saying the word “nigger” or any other word because we did not speak her tongue to understand what she was saying.  However in her chanting … the energy that she was using was not mean or angry; it was intense, but you could sense there was not an intention to hurt anyone, they were just sounds (words) used in a way to let the energy out (specifically, in this case, healing energy).
There has been so much meaning given to words that we can hardly speak anymore without someone being offended (look for WHO is offended) and yet, all one has to do is begin to Listen (with a capital L) to the energy.  We have given so much meaning to words, it is as if the words are real, but words are not real, they are just letters put together with sounds and we use other letters put together with sounds to describe the other sounds we are making (how weird is that!!!)  And here one is using letters to make words to say all this; which is also quite funny.
If you want to laugh or possibly begin to lighten up around the word  â€œnigger” click on link of a skit Dave Chappelle, a Comedy skit he did quite a while back in his career, it is very good pointing in making light of beliefs that are no longer serving us and for helping one to laughing at our ignorance.  This Newsletter and NTL are not promoting the use of this word (though it may seem to the contrary).  The words is being pointed to as just another word that we have given to much meaning to.   If you use words to hurt another, you might want to look at why it is that you do that and in that discovery, you may begin to realize compassion  when someone comes to you with words to hurt or inflict pain.  You may begin to not react so quickly to the words but begin to actually Hear what the person is saying to you, which is usually "I'm hurting," even though they want to hurt you).  Compassion breeds compassion.
Jay-Z shared on Oprah an enlightening interview about how rap has been one of the biggest movements in abolishing both racism and the word "nigger."   She asked him why he uses that word so much and he shared that rap is over-using the word to take the power (energy) out of it.  This can be done in many ways and possibly the reading of this Newsletter will be one of them.
There are so many ways to begin to see words for what they are if you go for a job interview for a position as a Relay Operator for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, they require you to verbally say words that are listed as profane and vulgar to get the job.  One of the words on the list is “nigger," along with many other words that the masses consider inappropriate language.  The reason they require these words to be spoken is to see if you are able to become an empty vessel for the people using the Service.  You have to be able to relay the conversation as it is, not how you want it to be.  You are not allowed the ability to say only words you are comfortable with, if you did, it would take away from the conversation and your job is to be transparent in it.  This is a great training in desensitization of words.
So for this month’s assignment (if you are willing), begin to pay attention to the words that you hear, and how they affect you, especially when you hear yourself saying “I.”  Pay attention to that word because that word is the ultimate lie and as you begin to Know this in ways that you can’t explain…then you will know that you are getting it.  It can’t be explained with words, but it can be pointed towards by them.

There are so many words that people find offensive, however, many great people have dedicated their lives to revealing the insignificance of them, through the use of them.  If you would like to get a bit more comfortable with the word "Fuck" you might find this audio by Osho (a Spiritual Teacher that is considered radical) where he does a humorous Speaking on the â€œF” word.
Recently, a Rapper, Moe Dirdee appeared and the music that comes through him really has a great sound.   He is both musically and lyrically talented and he has a great voice, however, his lyrics are pretty intense.    Much of the younger generation is listening to this kind of music now and this sparked a writing to him asking him to tone down his lyrics, which you can check out here.  The request was made that the music he creates could begin to envelop a different genre, not to sell-out or be something other than he is, but to be more fully who he is.  To take his experiences and shed Light with them.  He has more in him to share than just sex, drugs and cursing (which is obvious if you listen beyond the words).  He is quite talented.  He mentioned that his Grandmother has recently passed away and that she is very dear to him.  He commented that there was a concern that the next generation of grandparents would be “weirdos” or not of the caliber/quality of past generations.  However, one need look no further than the mirror to begin to Be what one would want to see.  It is not about making a better “you,” it is truly only a small shift in beginning to pay attention to the True You and Speaking, Singing, Rapping, Writing, Creating, Sharing from That Space.
A week ago there was a Writer’s Workshop out on Doe Bay in Washington.  A very talented man, Daniel Blue, participated in the work shop, he is also a member of the band Motopony.  One of the things about their music that you may notice is it has a Call to the Mysterious to it.  You may not understand what is being said but you can “feel” or “intuit” that there is something that comes through that you connect or resonate with as True.  One can Hear it in Moe Dirdee’s music just as much as in Motopony’s, if one is Listening, because again; it isn’t actually in the words, but in the energy the words ride on.  As one becomes more in Line with the Heart, the words, music and energy Align and this creates a kind of Art that lasts.  Great Art lasts because it is in line in pointing to That (which cannot be described but can be Known); the Source of what all Art appears IN.
As Dave Chappelle would say (and has) “Timing is Everthing,” and what perfect timing for the reading of a bottle of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap (who btw has a new movie coming out check the link)  to show up around the same time as this Newsletter is being written (no NTL does not get money for giving props).  Here is what is on the bottle:

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!
Tap into the Source of Who You Are...
and you Create a Reality that exudes IT
(IT is not an it).    ;o)
