To date (27th June 2022) there are 124 Ilkley Gift Cards circulating and £800 has already been redeemed from a value of £3,490 at 25 businesses. The Visitor Information Centre is now set up to sell the Ilkley Gift Card in addition to the online portal at www.ilkleygiftcard.co.uk and we expect sales to increase.
We will continue to work hard at marketing the giftcard and as the campaign grows, we hope that more local people will opt for an Ilkley Gift Card instead of an Amazon or single store gift voucher. We have secured a pitch at the next Real Food Ilkley Market to promote the giftcard and we encourage all BID businesses to sign up to accept the card to boost our local economy, attract footfall and lock in local spend. It's easy to sign up but if you experience any issues, have any questions or require help please do get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our recent campaigns to market the gift card have included:
Constant Social Media coverage to spread the word and raise awareness.
£1000 giveaway promoted by Rombalds Radio and Ilkley Chat.
Advertising at the Ilkley Carnival.
Yorkshire Post and Ilkley Gazette press releases.
Lampost banners around the town centre.
Leading up to the Jubilee weekend, the online competition saw 238 people take part answering the question: "If I win I would spend my Ilkley Gift Card at..." This was great publicity for the town and BID businesses.
Four prizes, £250, £100, 2x £50 have now been claimed and a total of £550 in multiples of £50, £10 & £5 were handed out to the public on Saturday 4th June.
Here's some of the lucky winners of the Ilkley Gift Card from the Jubile Weekend.
In time for UK Indie Day at the weekend please make sure your offers on the LoyalFree Dashboard are up to date. You can log into your dasboard here: www.loyalfree.co.uk/update to update your offers, change your profile and view the results.
If you haven't registered and want to make your business more visible to visitors on the town centre app, send your shop details with Ilkley BID in the subject line: to email@example.com.
Bradford Clean Air Zone
To prepare for the launch of the Bradford Clean Air Zone (CAZ) Bradford council are encouraging anyone who feels they may be affected by the CAZ to check their vehicles on the Government website.
This will let you know if your vehicle will be charged for driving in any of the UK Clean Air Zones including Bradford.
Businesses in the Bradford District are eligible for up to 3 vehicles being exempt so most businesses, as long as they apply, won’t have to pay. This includes self–employed and sole traders. They are also eligible for grants to help them upgrade.
Passenger cars and motorbikes will not be charged for entering the Bradford Clean Air Zone. It doesn’t matter if you live outside the Bradford District or if you use your vehicle for work purposes.
Bradford District householders can apply for an exemption if you own a non-compliant commercial type vehicle for private use (e.g. vans, campers, motorhomes and horseboxes), you will not have to pay.
There are still opportunities for grants to support the replacement or retrofit of non-compliant vehicles to clean air zone standards and to assist with the ongoing running costs of electric vehicles. The window for HGV and Buses has now closed but there is still some funding available for taxis, LGV and minibuses available on a first come first serve basis.
The Clean Air Zone team will be happy to provide you factual information about the status of your vehicle and will let you know if you are eligible for an exemption. Telephone 01274 435533 for more information.

Polite Reminder. In January there was a local press release covering a guided walk around the town which took place to highlight the issues that some residents and visitors to the town are experiencing because of A-boards. We've received a request to remind businesses that A-boards are not permitted in the town centre as they are a hazard to people with disabilities, visual impairment, mobility issues and people with pushchairs.
