Boaters Helping Boaters Relief Fund Launches to help Huricane Ian Victims

The Marine Industries Association of Southwest Florida and Tampa Bay, in partnership with the Old Salt Fishing Foundation, recently announced the formation of the Boaters Helping Boaters Hurricane Relief Fund to support the families of those making a living on Southwest Florida waters. 100% of the monies collected will go directly to those in need who are a part of the marine industry, fishing industry, marine law enforcement, and others related to the waterfront.

Hotlines Created to Report Derelict Vessels

There are now two hotlines available to report derelict vessels and storm debris. The FWC runs 850-488-5600 for reporting derelict vessels in state waters. The Florida Department of Emergency Management runs 850-961-2002 for reporting vessels or other titled property and debris on uplands.

Red Tide Resurfaces in Southwest Florida
After the passage of Hurricane Ian, FWC is keeping a close eye on levels of Karenia Brevis (red tide) and sharing the most recent samples via an online map. Conditions can change from day to day, so check the latest samples taken in your area.
