Sweetfern donates to Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury

Cohabitat Sweetfern Cohousing is donating $50 a year to the Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury. We believe that we share the same values as CLS and want to support their work. We have a representative attending CLS events to keep us informed and to inform CLS about our development.  Our decision will be reviewed in two years to determine if we are able to contribute a larger amount.

CLS is a grassroots group of citizens and community group who share a vision of Sudbury as a green, healthy and engaged community. Over 1300 people have pledged their support for this vision. They are citizens of Greater Sudbury, and volunteers who want to make a difference in our community.

CLS works towards a more liveable and sustainable community through advocacy, research, action, support and connection.Their vision is of Greater Sudbury as a sustainable, resilient, vibrant and equitable community where citizens work together for positive change.

Meet our members

I came to Canada from England in the late 60’s. I worked in Toronto for a short while and later moved to Sudbury and opened a Boutique on Larch Street. I still have my store, now on Durham Street.

I am a member of the Sudbury Art Club, and love painting with the terrific group there, many of whom have been members for over 20 years. My family also lives in Sudbury, I truly enjoy this.

The concept of living in a cohousing atmosphere is a reminder to me of the “village” atmosphere I grew up in as a child surrounded by caring neighbours who were watchful and considerate. Even though that was a difficult time for England, people shared what they had. Everyone had gardens.
