Join the GYG Global Action Day for the Eradication of Poverty!

On October 17 is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Be a part of the global Green youth movement and organize an action in your city! You can find all relevant background information, hints for creative actions as well as many supportive material in our GYG Global Action Reader.

Get involved, join us, plan and take pictures of your action on October 17 and together, let us add our voices and contribute to the eradication of poverty! Please inform Sarah ( if you want to organize an action in your local communities.

Youth Event at UNAOC Forum in Vienna

The Youth Event will focus on collective reflection rather than on presentations of individual projects implemented by youth organizations. In addition, it will help youth establish contacts, actively exchange and explore how they can collaborate together, before and after the Forum. Please see the Application Guidelines for more details and eligibility criteria. If you meet the eligibility criteria, please complete the Application Form.

GYG at the 8th ICMYO in Cairo

Alex Surace from the GYG Steering Committee participated in the 8th International Coordination Meeting of Youth Organisations in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting brought together International Youth NGOs and Regional Youth Platforms for 3 days of networking and collaboration. A sassy online campaign by the French Young Greens

The French Young Greens (Les Jeunes Écologistes) launched their first purely online campaign this month called "Les amis du changement" ("Friends of Change") thanks to a tumblr set up for the purpose. Friends of Change encourage the new President François Hollande whose slogan was “Change is now”  to keep his promises, enabling French citizens to publish a picture with one of the proposals made by the new President François Hollande they wish to be implemented. Postcard Campaign for Prisoners by the Turkish Young Greens

In Turkey, more than 700 students are in jail because of their peaceful activities. Most of them are Kurdish. They are mainly on trial due to be a member of youth organization of PKK or to be a sympathiser of PKK. We, Young Greens of Turkey, organized a postcard campaign to show our solidarity with our student friends and we created 100 postcards to have filled them by people in the street and we send them to students in prisons all around Turkey.  In addition to this, we had a petition calling for their freedomted students. Experience the General Assembly of the German Young Greens!

From 26th to 28th the German Young Greens have their semiannually General Assembly in Gelsenkirchen. They would like to invite YOU to participate in it! Young Green people from all over Germany come together to discuss political questions and positions, to have interesting workshops about different topics and to have a lots of fun. The topic of this congress is "Gender it!" We would be happy to have you with us! If you're interested write an email to!


African Youth Conference on Post-2015 Development Agenda

Are you involved with the Millennium Development Goals and would like to contribute to the Post-2015 Development Agenda? 150 youth will converge in Nairobi, Kenya to ensure input of an African Youth voice into this process. Applicants will need to fundraise their own flights and organise their own applications. You can find more information on the conference call (pdf) here and check out the conference website here.


First Congress of the Young Greens Colombia

The Colombian Young Greens Congress is being hold from the 12th-16th October, during which the American Federation will decide when to hold the American Young Greens Congress.

Presidential Campaigns in Venezuela

Presidential campaigns in Venezuala and Brazil are keeping the Young Greens active, rallying for environmental promises and supporting their candidates, some of which are Young Greens themselves. Elections are on 7 October.


The Australian Young Greens fight for Marriage Equality

Australia looks as though it is getting closer towards marriage equality with several key parties in the country giving it their support. Despite this - the bill failed in Tasmania last week, after making it through the lower house. More information can be found here.
